Which Stroller?

We are planning a fall trip and are trying to decide if we should bring our own double stroller (sit n stand) style, if we should bring our own lightweight single stroller, rent a stroller there if we decide we need one or skip a stroller all together. We're driving so we will have room to bring our own. Our double is a Joovy and while it's lightweight for a double, it's still big, bulky and heavy, especially compared to our lightweight single.

The kids will be a little over 4 and 2.5 when we go. Currently at home we use a stroller very rarely for either. When we go to the mall, the older one walks (wouldn't dream of being in a stroller) and I try to put the little guy in the lightweight stroller but he generally protests and I'm very quickly pushing an empty stroller and trying to hold his hand. Sometimes on long walks we put them both in a wagon, more for safety, and they'll tolerate it for a while and are generally protesting before the walk is over. Neither one is a stroller kid, and they would never ever consider taking a stroller nap, not even as babies.

Soooo, is it even worth bringing a stroller, or do you think they'll be so exhausted at disney that they give in and ride? I guess I'm trying to avoid being stuck with an empty stroller all day at the parks. Is it worthwhile to bring one for kids who don't usually agree to strollers?

-Bring our own double so both kids will have the option to ride?
-Bring our own lightweight single so we can easily carry it (shoulder strap) and kids will have option to ride taking turns?
-Rent a stroller there?
-Skip the stroller, our kids clearly hate them?!

Definitely the single. Doubles are too large imo for WDW and the busses (I bought an extra single for my 1 and 2 y/o last trip, thank god I didn't take the double). Like you said, they don't use it much so it's better you push around an empty single then an empty double. But bring at least one, they will get tired at one point and having an option for them take turns resting will make your day much easier.

I voted for rent a double. Even my nearly six year old begs for a ride sometimes in Disney. And it's nice to have a place for each kid when you need to book it quickly across the park or through the grounds of your resort at the end of a long day. You can always just put it in the stroller parking nearest to whatever section of the park you're in. No need to push it around all day long. But it's definitely nice to have when you need it.

We're going for our first trip in October, when my kids will have just turned 4 and 2. We are taking a side-by-side Maclaren double stroller that I bought off Craigslist for about $100. I've already used it several times at a local amusement park, and it's been great to have even there. It's not too wide, easy to push, and folds up like an umbrella stroller. So another option might be to check craigslist for a side-by-side double like what you might rent. You might be able to get one for less than a rental.

I voted for bringing your own sit-n-stand double but would retract that vote if you had plans to rent from an outside company and not in the Disney parks. Disney's strollers are just a hunk of plastic with no storage and can be hard to navigate, but plenty of offsite companies have really nice doubles that rent for less than Disney's and they provide free drop-off and pick-up at your resort.

DD is 5 and hasn't used a stroller at home since she was 2, but I can't fathom not having one for her when we're in Disney. It's a lot of walking for little legs, and kids get tired even faster when heat/humidity come into play. I'm positive there will be times when both of yours will want to sit at the same time and if you have a single that means that one is going to have to be carried.
