Which stroller?

Which should I bring for a week long trip in June with a 5 and 2 year old - a sit-n-stand stroller or 2 small umbrella strollers? We are driving not flying so either can be transpired to WDW easily. I've heard about renting good strollers but we are on a strict budget and I'm trying not to spend money on renting a stroller when I own some already.

Hmmmm... tough decision. Does your 5 year old fit in the stroller seat on the sit-n-stand? I'm just imagining the 5 year old being tired at a time when the 2 year old isn't and wants to use the stroller. Will the 2 year old nap in your umbrella stroller? Or are you planning on taking breaks back in the hotel room? I think if the kids are comfortable in umbrella strollers, I'd go that route.

They make connectors for umbrella strollers so one adult can push them side by side, too.

5 year old does not fit in stroller seat of sit n stand but sits comfortably in his spot. 2 year old won't nap in any stroller, hotel naps are a must for both boys.

Do the umbrella stroller connectors work well?

We used a sit and stand for our four year old and our one year old. It worked very well. We liked that it was narrow and would fit through doorways, smaller spaces without having to unhook two umbrella strollers. This just worked best for our family!

I'd go with which ever one has more shade and is more comfortable. You are going when it will be hot.

Not sure what kind of umbrella strollers you have but if they are cheap $20-$30 ones, I'd skip using them. I used a cheap one for DL for a few days and what a pain. Glad my niece outgrew that one in time for our next trip to WDW-I purchased a good stroller that has made it to WDW four times and is still in great shape.

If that's the case, would the 5 year old fit in an umbrella stroller?

+1

We have a Joovy Caboose Ultralight:

He is a small 5 year old so he is ok in the umbrella. He's a little big for it but not enough that he won't want to sit in it.

I'm concerned because the sit and stand is very large. It won't even fit in the trunk of my honda.

There are various brands of sit and stands. The Joovy is not as long as the Baby Trend. Our Joovy is currently sitting in the small trunk-like area of of my VW Golf Hatchback. We actually bought a used Baby Trend Sit and Stand and then resold it because of how long it was. I don't know how much shorter the Joovy is, but it feels like a big difference.

I wish ours was smaller. It's really nice. It has a shade for each of the boys and a basket which would come in handy. I'm not super concerned with the size of it in the parks themselves, it's the hassle of traveling on the buses with it that concerns me because of how large it is. I've seen so many parents struggle with them on the bus in the past and I always think they look miserable and annoyed with the stroller. With that said we could also drive to the parks and avoid the buses all together. It won't cost us anything since we are staying on site and then the buses won't even be an issue.

I'd bring your sit and stand then. The only park that would make it easier to use the bus would be MK. All the others it would make more sense to drive. At MK you would have to go on the tram and it's faster and easier to take the bus.

The Joovy is shorter, but might be heavier than the Baby Trend. And teh Joovy is not the greatest/most secure folder. It has just two latches that both look to be easy to accidentally unlatch. We don't take it on the bus because *any* stroller is a bit of a hassle on a bus.

After our first visit with a baby and stroller, we have just decided to drive everywhere, even to Epcot when we've stayed on the monorail line because strollers at peak travel times can be such a hassle on any form of transportation.

We've even eliminated the tram step at DHS, AK, and Epcot by buying our park tickets through AAA and getting a AAA Diamond Parking Pass that allows you to a park in a special area or close enough to avoid use of the trams.
