We can't make up our minds which stroller to take!! I have a 1 year old and a 3 1/2 year old and I need something that they can both ride in. Here are the options:

1- Our Graco Metrolite single stroller (which reclines) and an umbrella stroller
2- Our Graco Duoglider double stroller (which only the back seat reclines far enough for sleeping
3 - Go buy a new side-by-side double stroller that lets both sides recline

Normally only my 3 yo will sleep in the stroller but maybe if he got tired enough, my 1 yo would too. I am not normally lucky enough to get them to both sleep at the same time, so just having 1 seat recline isn't a big deal. We don't have a lot of extra money (most of it is going to this trip) so if I have to buy a new stroller, it has to be something economical. We are staying at WL so that means that most of the time we will use the boat to MK and maybe an occasional bus. I am not sure about taking the double stroller (either one) on the busses or the monorail. Any suggestions??? I need help quick, we fly out on Saturday!!

Thanks
Tiffany

I would take the Duoglider. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but you should be able to roll that right onto the boat from MK to WL (unless it's the smaller one that runs sometimes - all strollers have to be folded for that one).

Busses and trams you have to fold the stroller whether it's single or double, and the Monorail you can roll right on.

hth!

My kids are about the same age as your kids. My DS is going to be 4 and DD is going to be 19 mo at the time of the trip. I'm going to take my umbrella stoller for DD and DS is going to walk when we are traveling there and back and if we are at DTD or the water parks. When we go to the park we are going to rent a double stroller for 4 days. I think you get a better deal when you rent more days at once. At least that's what I remember from last time. The Disney $'s we get back when the stroller is returned goes to the kids to buy one small souvenier from the Hotel gift shop before we leave for good. :sad2: I like taking the Disney strollers because there is no chance of "losing" your own stroller in any way. As for sleeping, my DS can sleep anywhere if he's tired enough! :rotfl2: My DD won't sleep unless she is in her crib or car seat so we don't have to worry about her. I know that this doesn't work for everyone, but it's what we like to do. Have fun in WDW, wish we were there!!! :earboy2: My favorite reason for renting at the parks and bringing the smallest stroller I own, You don't have to lug the huge stroller on to and off of busses and other transportation!!! I hate taking the kids out folding up the stroller, hefting it into the bus. You get the idea. This is especially tough coming home in the evening. My kids will just walk some, it's good for them anyway. :hyper:

Take your DuoGlider. We have the same kind as you and love it. As a matter of fact when the first one broke I had to find antoher one on eBay beause no other would do! We too lower the back and our kids would take naps w/just a light blanket over the top to block the sun. You will have to fold it up for bus trips. We've had no problems leaving it open on any of the boat rides or Monorail. Have a great time and if you are flying, gate check the stroller!

Take your DuoGlider. You'll be happier with a double stroller.

I choose option #1.

Why because you may not like lifting the heavier stroller onto the busses. And being at the WL you will have to be bussed everywhere else except the MK.

And if your oldest wants to walk, you can hook the umbrella stroller up to the metrolite.

I have an Evenflo light stroller for my youngest & plan on taking the umbrella stroller for my 4yo. This way if she wants to walk she can & if not she doesn't have to.

Good luck deciding. Plus if one kid wants to go off alone with mom/dad the other won't be left stranded/strollerless.

I would take your own stroller. I personally believe your 1 year old is too young/little for a Disney rental. Then I would take your double. You already own it, no extra investment & you said money is tight. Plus you'll be amazed at how often the two will want to ride at once.

I would do option 1 or 3.

I would not even consider the Duoglider (I have one) those things are so heavy to lug off and on busses, they are just huge. We have taken a Graco side by side before and it worked out well, not as bulky or heavy as the Duoglider.

The rentals are not very cozy,I used to be able to rent them free of charge and still didnt use them, maybe for older kids, but not a 1 year old. On my last trip in Oct. we took 2 stroller that were single and had recline capabilities for my almost 23month old and 4 year old, this worked beautifully. Good luck with your decision.

I would take the double stroller. Is your umbrella stroller one of those cheap ones? I ask this because we have three of them that were free from ToysrUs. I used it in a mall once and never again. The handles are so low, it is very uncomfortable to wheel around. Also there is no place to hang your bag. If you have a full size umbrella I would take two strollers then. It would be eaier to put two strollers on and of a bus. I also agree that the rentals are not comfy enough or recline for a one year old.

Okay, I'm different.

I would bring the duo stroller, and on the days you are at AK and MGM, I would rent a stroller. You will need to take a bus to get to these locations and folding it in and out is a pain. The newer duel strollers (for rent) are at these parks and are very comfortable (heard that from my son).

Also, your stroller will come in handy for DTD and non-park activity, as well as, save you some money on rental fees.

Hope this helps.
