Which song lyrics have you misheard?

And as a kid...

What's love got to do, got to do with it/ "What's love cockadoo, cockadoodle it."

steely dan- reeling in the years... i thought it was -reeling in the yeast

I knew Bennie had electric boots, but I thought she had a motor suit.

More EJ: Rocket Man, Burning out strings in heaven on

My favorite is a good friend of mine misheard Oye Como Va as "Eating Cocoa Puffs"

John Denvers "Thank God I'm A Country Boy" not me, but several people I knew would be singing 'hicks on the griddle' instead of 'cakes on the griddle"

My husband is great for never singing the right lyrics to the right songs, he likes to mix them all up

Not a song mixup,,but used to order from this sub/grinder place in MA. On the phone, it sounded like the guy was saying 'old man ezerboff', when he was actually saying, 'oil, mayonnaise' or both'! lol

Dude Looks Like a Lady- Do the Lucky Lady.

Game without Frontiers (Peter Gabriel)-Jeux sans frontieres - “She’s so Popular”

Even knowing the name of this new Muse song, I just can't not hear the title lyrics ("thought contagion") the wrong way:

'

I can't post here what it sounds like to me, but let's just say... it's a bad word and a bad dude. :ssst:

Madonna La Istla Bonita....girl with eyes like potatoes

My son thought it was I put aluminum foil on both head lights instead of I took a Louisville slugger to both head lights. In Before he cheats. He kind of wondered why she would put aluminum foil on someone’s headlight.

Schools Out for the Summer I thought was Too Bad for Quesada - whoever Quesada was and There’s a Bad Moon on the Rise I thought was There’s a Bathroom in the Right

Led Zeppelin's "Houses of the Holy":

Misheard: "Are you dizzy when you're stoned?"
Actual lyric: "Are you dizzy when you stall?"

Probably most of them and I still don’t even know it. I’m terrible with song lyrics.

In Drift Away by Dobie Gray, I always thought they were saying "Give me the Beach Boys" until my daughter told me it was "Give me the beat boys".

I just remembered another one from INXS Never Tear Us Apart...

I thought he sang, “But if I hurt you, I’ll make white vomit tears”

Actual lyric: “But if I hurt you, I’d make wine from your tears.”

Less gross, but about equally strange, imho.

Until a few years ago I had no idea the song was Barbara Ann by The Beach Boys. I always thought they were saying bopper ann like it was just some happy song

My college campus was split in half, with a northern campus and a southern campus. They were only 1 1/4 miles apart, but there was a van that would take kids from one campus to another. The man who drove this van when I was in school was Bob. Seriously.

So, this became thing:

Bob Bob Bob
Bob drives the van

Bob Bob Bob
Bob drives the van

He drives the van
Bob drives the van
(Bob drives the van)

He's got us rockin' and rollin'
Rockin' and a-reelin'
Bob drives the van
Bob Bob Bob
Bob drives the van

We would actually sing this. In the van. While he drove us between campuses.

"Secret Asian Man" instead of "Secret Agent Man."

"Here we are now, in containers" instead of "Here we are now, entertain us." (Smells Like Teen Spirit, Nirvana)

"Sweet paradise, they put up a bawking God" instead of "They paved paradise and put up a parking lot." (Big Yellow Taxi, Counting Crows)

"Let's ride with the family down the street, through the courtesy of Flintstone feet" instead of "Fred's two feet." (Flintstones theme song)

"I'm your hero and I'm not made of stone. Fighting on, I can hardly count" instead of "I'm no hero and I'm not made of stone. Right or wrong, I can hardly tell." (Wrong Side of Heaven, Five Finger Death Punch) *I still hear both sets of lyrics in my head everytime I listen to it and the juxtaposition really strengthens the message. I can't watch the video without crying.

Take me down to the prairie dog city.

I can't unhear it. Doesn't help that we used to have a pet prairie dog.

My mother turned "There's gonna be a heartache tonight" into "there's gonna be a party tonight."
