:earsgirl: Hi everyone....all of us Disney Lovers...
Our question is: In prior years we've always been in the 500 loop. This year we have a 40' home with a satellite. We no longer need the cable (I hope), so we can switch to a Full Hookup instead of the Preferred.

What is the best site for:
1. The size of our home
2. Backing ease
3. Satellite reception

I hope someone can give me some pointers.....I have a map of the campsites, just not sure which one.

Thanks to everyone....

Welcome mzpatmouse

Site 1222 is the last site in that loop and very easy to back into. Was in that site in March and have seen many big (40+) rigs in there. Also have the 2 pull through sites in that loop so you don't even have to back in.
When are you going to be there?

John

Hi John
Fred and I plan on being there in Jan. We've stayed there several times before but with the 38' it was a tight fit sometimes. Can hardly wait to try the 40' but he's quite the navagator...

I'll request the site you recommended...Hopefully we'll be able to get it...Someone else suggested 1123....

Do you know much about satellites? We have one on this motor home and have just gotten signed up. I'm told we may need an extra dish to set outside the trees...Any info would be much appreciated...

Thanks for the reply:earsgirl:

Stayed in 1100 loop in Jan. but do not remember 1123 site. We will be back at FW in a couple of weeks and I'll check it out and let you know.
Have seen batwing antennas up on MH with sat. dish so some sites the reception is bad. Other times have seen the portables also out.
I wish you the best with your new MH. What is it?

Thanks for the offer to check out the campground sites. It's always best to plan in advance when possible. Hope you have a great trip there. Where are you traveling from?

We have an 04 Fleetwood Revolution. LOVE IT. Traded an 03 Discovery for it last Jan. Two drawbacks we've discovered... less compartment storage and seems to have less power although it is pulling a lot more weight than the Discovery. It has a wonderful, quiet and smooth ride. No banging and rattling going on in the coach. Love it.

I'm going to have to check into all the satellite options for when we're in a treed area. We know nothing about any of it. Do you know how the portables work? Do they work off our auto satellite? Seems no one can give me answers. I've tried the tech dept. at DirecTV but only get kids that seem to know nothing unless it's in a home....Any info would be much appreciated...

Thanks again and have a safe trip....Patty

We have a 41' Dutch star, and have not found a site yet we could not fit. Some are easier than others of course, and there are sites we would not even try. I hope you operate as a team, via walkie talkies. My wife is my 'backer upper director', could not do it without her.

We have been in the 100, 400, 500, 700, and 900. We would like to try the 1200 also, there are some pretty cool sites in there.

You will most likely need a tripod and dish setup for most sites... the dish on your MH will be right in line with a tree, plan on it. It hooks up somewhere in the basement, get your book out. Rv.net is a good suggestion also.

As I have said before, check the big book up front when checking in. This will give you a good idea what lies ahead.

We just got back from FW. We use a separate (portable) dish and DIRECTV receiver. We just take one of our receivers out of the house and we have an extra dish (like the one mounted to our house) that we take camping. HOWEVER, there are sooooo many trees at FW that we were unable to get a signal. We were in loop 1000. If you are on on the southwest end of a loop with one of the roads right behind you, then you may can move your dish out far enough to get a signal. The two pull thru sites in 1200 looked pretty good for this. I am not familiar w/ the satellite systems in motorhomes but I would think that if it can be put on DIRECTV service then you can use a receiver from home. I did see alot of other motor homes w/ sat's that had their bat wings up (we did too!!!) You will need the FW zip code but you can find that on your confirmation form. I jotted down alot of sites that I thought would accomodate our tt and vehicle (about 55 ft altogether) so if you want those, I'll post. I do not know which are preferred or full hook ups, I just wrote down the sites that I thought would accomodate us.

Just got back and took a quick walk around 1100 loop this morning before we headed out. 1123 has nice shade so bring the portable.
