Which side of the ship?

We are going on a 3-day cruise on the Wonder in Feb. '06. Believe it or not...I have my choice of SPR rooms. Which side of the ship would be better for the view.. mostly coming into port at the Bahamas and CC? I assume there isn't much to see otherwise. Does it make a difference? I know we won't be able to see much out our window, but every little bit is fabulous.

The Captain(s) do seem to have a preference on where and which direction to dock, but there is no sure way of knowing which side of the ship will be dockside at any port. The ports schedule, weather, maintenance needs, and lifeboat exercises seem to be the biggest determinates on how the ship docks. But I know such things as a scheduled photo or video shoot can also determine how the ship may be positioned at any port. The only one I’ve never seen changed is when the ship(s) are at Port Canaveral, I’ve only seen them with the starboard side to the dock.

That being said, it seems like each side gets equal time against the dock and depending on the port you may or may not get a better view from dockside.

So, I think the answer to which side is better is going to be a personal preference, and could be different on every voyage. Of course DISers will be glad to share their preferences with you, but in the end I think both sides have equal appeal.

The morning we docked in Nassau we headed down to "Secret" deck 7. We were there all by ourselves and had a great view as we pulled into Nassau.

Just go all the way to the end of deck 7 and you will see a door leading to the deck.

For Castaway Cay, the ship "mostly" backs in....Therefore, I would recommend starboard as having better views....particularly of the beautiful water and the island itself.....

We were in cabin 6648...starboard....on the eastern cruise...We didnt see anything coming into St Maarten or St. Thomas...But did see castaway cay...beautiful view

We got off theWonder todey. We had spr 5020.. The ship backed in and Room 5520 was the island view side..NO BIG DEAL.. If you still get a choice take it..The view obstruction in our cabin was minimal..All week of 75-80 degrees ..All sun...TODAY Buffalo woke up to snow..
