We are planning to book the Christmas, 2006 cruise next week and can't decide which side of the ship to book. Also, as long as you're not under a club or theatre, where on the ship is best - middle, front, back? You can also try to teach me the "ship" lingo while you're at it.

Mid ship starboard side! I like starboard side because it faces CC!

Which side? The inside!

Seriously, we've only been port side (benefits: Key West sunset, shady side for the lifeboat drill, but any side is good....)

Lingo?

Left = Port
Right = Starboard
Front = Forward
Middle = Midship
Back = Aft
"Floors" = Decks
Elevators = Lifts

So the elevators in the front of the ship are the Forward Lifts

Not always... sometimes the ship pulls into CC & starboard then gets to watch all the dock activity...

We like both sides of the ship. I prefer the center on the ship (midship) as it has the least amount of movement. That is great if your prone to motion sickness. I dont get ill, but in rough seas we have had our closet door keep slamming back an forth. So we had to block it. Then we could hear other closet doors slamming in the rooms next door, the people wernt in their rooms to stop it until 2 a.m.. Bummer!!! The lower decks also have less movement.
I do love a verandah's (upper decks) however the ocean view was nice too as we wernt in our rooms enough to really use the verandah that much.

I agree.... INSIDE IS THE BEST! :rotfl2:

Decks toward the front of the ship feel more of the movement in the ship (at least during our cruise). I prefer midship toward aft (back).

Starboard side, mid ship.

Seemed to be cooler compared to the rooms on the port side.

Starboard side.

Both times we have sailed, we have been docked at Port Canaveral on the starboard side, we enjoy the view of the DCL Terminal as we sailaway and want the option of watching from our verandah.

Also, CC view is cool if the ship backs into the dock, which it did both times we sailed.

On May repo, seemed like the land was almost always on the starboard side, potential scenery :teeth:

We are on the port side and now I am reading about all the great views on the starboard side. :guilty: I hope our view is going to be ok.

I have cruised both sides and each time we were lucky enough to be on the CC side. You never know which side the captian will need or deicde to pull into port at CC.

We were on port last year. We went to Cozumel instead of Nassau because of the weather. We had some great views of Cuba at sea.
