I am not familiar with this resort at all. Which is better? Is one closer to the food area, which side has a nicer pool? ::MickeyMo

Well, there are 2 sections to POR. Alligator Bayou is more rustic in decor and there are more smaller buildings. Magnolia Bend is the mansions, bigger buildings and fewer of them. There are certain buildings in each section that are central to the main building. We stayed in building 15 at Alligator Bayou. Close to food court and bus stop. If you pull up a map, it'll give you a better idea. Also, the main pool is pretty centralized. The quiet pools are spread out and you are usually close to one of them no matter what building you are in.

Just re-read your post. Did you mean French Quarter vs. Riverside? If you did, then the main difference is that FQ is more compact, not as much walking. Riverside has a restaurant, but the 2 food courts are about the same. They share busses. FQ's pool is a little better themed I think, but I don't think there is a quiet pool there, just the main pool. The only other difference is the theming.

I just returned from a stay a POR. I stayed in the Mansions. I think I picked the wrong area. Our room was very noisy and we could hear the people above us and next to us flush their toilets. One night we stayed up for an hour because someone flushed every 5 or 10 mins. We'll never go back!

But, some folks told me the AB side is better. Also, a DvC Member on the bus and said he always stays in the French Quarter. He claims that is best place at WDW. Funny though, I didn't realize DvC members stayed at the regular resorts!

Have fun!

Of the 3 choices (POFQ, POR Mansions, POR Bayou), I find the Bayou to be the nicest based on our own personal tastes.

The Bayou bldgs are amid lush landscaping, are very quiet, and extremely cozy. The mansions are also nice, but a bit more compact (the buildings) and w/o the nice landscaping. Finally, POFQ is the most compact of them all, and I dont care for the look/feel of the whole place (New Orleans) .. closer to parking lots, more crowded in general with kid-type theming (esp. the pool)...

POR (both sections) also has a full service restaurant ...

Just my 2cents.

We love the POFQ, we will be staying there again. Its only got the one bus stop, first on and off when sharing a bus with riverside (who has 4!) It was quiet and the food court wasnt bad. WE loved it and the size. We were in building 5 which is next to the pool and food court and bus stop. We recommend it!!!

This is my favorite moderate resort at WDW!!! It's small, so it's easy to get everywhere. POR & CBR were just way too spread out for my taste.

I think POFQ is liked by kids, but not necessarily 'kid-type theming.' It has a New Orleans Mardi Gras theme.

I very much enjoyed POFQ our last stay. We are staying at POR this trip and looking forward to that as well.
