Which show is more suitable for preschoolers, lion king or Finding Nemo?

You could actually do both but I'd say Nemo would be right up their ally...there are a lot of big and loud things going on in the Lion King
We are thinking location wise, we probably will do LK first, if we have time or the kiddos are up for it, we will swing to Nemo.

I vastly prefer LK to Nemo and so do my wife and kids who were pre schoolers during our last trip at ages 4 and 5. Nemo just felt like a slow paced rehash of the movie while LK is more of a spectacle in all the right ways.

The concer I have for midday break is the time consuming. It will easily take an hour each way to the hotel. We will have our double stroller with us, so the kiddos will have a spot to rest their feet.
Exactly the reason I never take a midday break "back at the hotel" (unless I was at MK and happened to be staying at a monorail resort). We found a good spot to nap at AK in Dinoland. There are some places there tucked away under shade and away from rides.
Napping in the strollers worked for us at various times of the year. The only time we did go back for a mid-day break was when it downpoured and we just needed to go back to dry off.

My daughter (a 5mo) napped pretty much anywhere this past March.

I would also suggest some noise-cancelling headphones .. plop those on a napping child and they won't know what's going on around them. Plus they are helpful for firework shows if you stay that late.

Since you are going in January, I would not leave the parks for a break, The park hours could be shorter, and it will be cooler and more comfortable for everyone. But, our kids would nap in the stroller, so maybe I am biased. Do the Safari, ride a few things, have lunch, go the the shows, then play in Dinoland.

We will stay at Contemporary for the convenience. HS is a half day park, we will mainly see the shows, so we will start late, no needs for the midday break. Epcot open late even in Jan, and the monorail might make it easier for midday break. The only one we are not sure is AK. Kind think it is a half park for this trip too.

My kids have loved both from ages 2 and 5 to their current ages of 6 and 9 (three trips). My younger son was/is easily scared (especially by 3-D) and loved both shows each time we have gone. It's Tough to be a Bug is another story. We bailed when he screamed at age 2, tried again at age 4 (sat right near the door this time) and didn't bother at age 6.

I agree, the weather plays a big part. We went in December and the kids could go all day. 6 Months later in May the 3 year old really struggled to go as long and got grouchy and cranky. So take the time of year into account.

Thank you. We really don't have any must dos besidea the safari. Will probably go with the flow. So far, looks like LK holds the edge.

We will not do the "it's tough to be a bug", too scary for my kids.

We are going in Jan for the first family trip because of the cool weather and possibly the low crowd. Only down part is the shorter hours.

On our last trip, me, DS and DD (4) did both shows in the same day, first time we saw the shows. While I personally didn't care for Lion King, my DD loved it and stayed engaged the whole time with the show. Now, I loved Finding Nemo and DD started out loving it as well but as it went on, she lost interest due to the length of the show. So for pre-schooler age, I vote Lion King but definitely check out both shows if you can.

We took DGS at 2 and a half last fall and didn't know how he would do with the shows so we started with Lion King and he had so much fun and behaved so well we were confident enough to try Finding Nemo and he did fantastic with that as well. He didn't seem to mind how long it was, perhaps because at the time it was his favorite movie.

When my kids were preschoolers, they liked Nemo better. Now that they are older, they prefer LK.

If you can catch the 1st train to Rafiki's Planet Watch, you may get to ride with Rafiki and Chip & Dale. Rafiki was one of the best character interactions we've ever had.

Yes! Rafiki is great! DD12 and I were at the Conservation Station and he literally came over to us to see DD. There weren't any other guests in the building at the time. It was so fun!

I much prefer LK, but Nemo is air-conditioned. Going in January, it probably won't be an issue, but keep it in mind. DD enjoys both.

Second the recommendation for Tusker House. Whole family had a great time.
