Hi Everyone

Well i am going next sat (9th) just dad and 3 kids with travel city and wonder if anyone has any advice or experience were to sit as i know they dont have seat back screens ( not pre booked) so all can see tv,s .This would make my life so much easier as being a single parent it could be hell if the kids arent happy for 8 1/2 hours on the flight .I am doind the usual mags, books and things but would love some advice from you all.

Take personal DVD's if you've got them. Only been once with TCD and the video screens were unwatchable! One of the reasons (many more) why we won't be going with them again. Good luck!

Indeed, our flight both ways had IFE problems according to them....roughly translated as we couldn't be bothered getting it fixed in two weeks.

We could see the (working!) TV screens easily from sitting about half way back in the middle of a seating section. The only place I wouldnt want to sit is too close to the front of any seating section as the middle 4 seats have one big screen at the front of each section of the plane and if you were too close it would make you feel ill. Anybody sitting in the window side seats would either have to crank thier neck a bit or watch a smaller screen, there are several coming down from under the overhead storage along the lenght of the plane.

Last trip we sat in row 50 on the way out and 38 on the way back, both in the middle block of 4.

Thats if someone doesn't decide to stand up half way through the movie!!

We went upper deck - it's a toss-up really as the screen is smaller up there and more or less above the exit row where we were sitting - it was nice to have the legroom, but you had to stretch your neck to see the tv...

It's a plane, people need to pee and stretch thier legs just like they do at the cinema or at home

Sorry jodie, but on our flight, it was for hours! Between the crackling picture, (sometimes no picture) poor sound and inconsiderate people in front, it made impossible to watch a film.

This may be so, sometimes bad flights happen and obviously you have issues with your TCD flight but the question was simple, 'Can anyone recommend somewhere to sit for a good view of the tv screens?' and I tried to answer as best as possible from my experience. I am betting inconsiderate people sometimes fly Virgin or BA aswell.

Apologies kgarrigos for turning your thread into a TCD one man cheerleading squad and I hope my initial response helped.

The last three window seats, on either side, right at the back of the plane are in twos and have lots more elbow room than the ones in front that are all in threes;
You also get served food & drink first, there is a bit of standing room with a window just behind so you can stretch your legs, also they are close to the loos with out you getting affected by them (most people tend to go forward to the toilets in any case, have you noticed). I think they are rows 57,58,59 if memory serves me right. View of the screen is OK but not the best.

The main disadvantage is that you disembark last - and it is a big plane !! :rolleyes:

hope this helps.

Don't sit in row 17...its near the first class area at the front. Smack next to the toilets.
Good view of the screen, if it is working, but bad smells, lots of foot traffic to the loos..
How many are in your party?
