Which seats family of 4 flying

1st trip for out 4 some. YA-HOOOO, We always just got 3 in row. What seats do you pick for your 4 somes? 3 on 1 side and 1 by it self next to you, 2 in a row and 2 in row right in back of it? and and 2 next to each other.


We will have DH, DD8, DD1, and Me. Flight from dtw, so maybe 2 hours ish.

Our kids are 12 and 14 and we do 2 and 2 but in a really mean way..

Me and SO book the last row of business class, and put the kids behind us
that way us big people get the room we need, and they get the room they need, and they are still close

Seriously, though, if she tends to kick the seat in front of you, the polite thing to do is put her behind one of you.

We usually do 2 and 2. If the seats are 3x3 we sit in front of/behind each other. If 2x2 we sit across.

We flew Delta last year and the rows were 2 and 3 coming in and out of Orlando. I guess it just depends on the type of plane you get.

We always sit with the 2 kids (ages 4 and 5) by me in one row, and daddy across the row if we can get him that close. Plus this way if it doesn't work out, we can always swap seats, but it usually works out pretty well

2x2 behind each other is probably the best. That way there is one parent sitting next to one child, rather than one parent having to handle two children.

Many Delta planes have a 2 seat across configuration in economy; however, these are mainly flown on international routes (not counting shuttle flights).

We do three and then one across the aisle so we can all still talk.

When the kids were younger, we did 2x2, with each kid by a window, and each parent next to them. That usually means the parents are in middles, but with small kids next to us, not a big deal. Now that my wife is the shortest member of the family, adults always get the aisle seats.

We're a family of 4 and do 2 x 2 across the aisle. Me & DH in aisle seats across from each other, DD in middle seat next to DH and DS in middle seat next to me.

We've tried a couple different ways but this works best for us.

Is your DD1 in a carseat? That will limit your options - she needs to be in a window seat with you (or your DH) in the middle seat beside her.

MD80's and MD90's have 3x2 seating.
737's & 757's have 3x3 seating

Flying out Thursday as a family of 4. The plane is 3 seats on each side. I will be with my DS and DD. DS in the window since he has the car seat and DD next to him - she likes to sit next to him. I have the aisle seat and my DH is across the aisle from us in an aisle seat as well. Neither of my children kick the seat. It's nice, that way none of us are crowded.

My kiddos are 13 and 17. I do 3 of us together in one row and my husband next to us in the aisle seat in the same row. If that is not possible, then we do 2 and 2.

Maybe just luck, or same flight on a thur almost every time. Ours have always been 3s.

If your 1 yr old is in a carseat, she may kick the seat in front of her. The height and position of the carseat seem to make it easy for kids to kick the seat, even if they're not trying to.

If that's the case, I'd put your older child and your DH in one row and you and the baby behind them so if baby kicks the seat, she won't be doing it to a stranger.

We're a family of 5 and we've always put DH & the older 2 kids in one row and youngest child and me behind them. However, the next time we travel, DS won't be in a carseat, so we'll probably go with all seats in the same row at that point.
