We are switching our reservations to AKL and I was wondering which savannah gives the best view of the animals. We haven't ever stayed here before and my DS4 LOVES animals very much so I am very excited about this for him. TIA!

Arusha has the most diverse group of animals. It's the savanna in the middle of the resort. In my estimation, it also has the best overall view, as you get to look onto the beautiful lobby picture windowand Arusha rock.

Other requests I always submit: An Arusha Savanna view on the 4th floor, halfway down Zebra Trail. You're at the perfect height for looking at the animals, close enough to the lobby, and on on the trail closest to food and pool :-)

Hello LLmommy! We are going April 12th-18th and were going to stay there. But then we found out that animals where not going to be in the Savahanna due to them getting new animals and the time it takes to familiarize the animals with there new surroundings. We found it at allears.net and then called the resort and they confirmed. The CM at the Disney reservation did not know that they were not going to be any animals in enclosure. So make sure you check for your dates to see if there will be any animals to look at with the amount you will be paying. Just a heads up!

mef78: With all of those requests, how often do you get what you ask for? My family is staying at AKL for the first time in May and we have a savannah view room and I wanted to make a request for Arusha, but I am curious since you have so many requests, how many you actually get?? Thanks so much!! :)

I've only stayed there three times, but have gotten all of my requests each time. It has a lot to do with the facts that I go during relatively low-crowd times (May, September), and arrive quite early to check-in. Not sure how true this is, but when I arrive early to check in, I can usually negotiate with the CM to get a room that fulfills most of my requests. That said, I always know what priority order they're in, so that I know what to lock in first (in this case, Arusha Savanna is my no. 1 priority, then Zebra trail, then the floor level, then how far away I am from the lobby!).

Don't forget to have your requests noted on your reservation before you arrive. :)

This is just on the Sunset Savanna (affected due to Kidani construction) and Pembe Savanna (this will be the Kidani Savanna)--not the other two (Arusha and Uzima), which are still open for business--complete with animals!

Although it is a long walk, I like the area where the Uzima and Arusha savannas kind of come together. There is a fence there and sometimes the animals from the two savannas "talk" to each other through the fence. It is a great area to see all kinds of animals.
