Which route is fastest in the morning to get to TSMM?

If we want to ride TSMM first thing in the morning, is it faster to go the route by Carsland or the route by Grizzly River Rapids? I know they walk the group behind the rope (hose) toward Carsland and then turn the corner down Route 66 before you can head to TSMM. Do they walk the rope over by Soarin as well? If so, how far? Has anyone tried both routes and knows which is faster? On the map, the Carsland route looks shorter, but that walk was pretty slow the last time we did it, and we've not tried the other way, so we're wondering if it might be faster.

Carsland is shorter, but slow. You are probably better off going by GRR, but bear in mind, there will be people coming from the Grand that way too.

We prefer to go the Grizzly way. We do this almost every time we start at DCA as Toy Story is generally our first ride. It is not crowded, and when you get to the parks you can almost always be right up against the rope on that side unlike the typical route where everyone is lined up waiting for Carsland. I don't know that it is any faster, but it is certainly EASIER. We usually see a few people rushing over from the Carsland area to the bridge just as we pass Mermaid. It probably comes out about the same, but it is nice to not be with hundreds of other people clamoring to get there. And if you want FP for WOC, it's easy to get them at that time as they're not the hot priority for most that Carsland is.

Thank you for your replies! We will plan on going the Grizzly River route.

The best part is that the FP for RSR are still usually there after we ride TSMM, so go grab those after :)

I've did both and the Carsland way is the fastest for us. But we usually get there early and are at the front of the pack at rope drop. If you show up late you should probably go the Grizzly way because the mass of humans is not as great.

We always do this same thing. After TSMM, we head to RSR and ride single rider.

So if we get there early enough, we might try the Carsland route if we're up front. However, we'll have a couple of strollers, so it sounds like the Grizzly way will be easier if we're not up front. For those who have gone the Grizzly route, do they walk a rope or just drop it at opening? We'll plan to get RSR FP right after TSMM (we'll have little kids with us so can't do single rider).

They just let you go when the park opening is announced.
