Which route from St. Louis to WDW? 2 choices on Mapquest. Hotel or stop suggestions? 2 wks from now!

There are 2 choices on Mapquest from STL to WDW. We always take the route that goes through Atlanta and is says is the quickest. The other route shows that it is an hour or two longer, and I think goes through Birmingham (?).

Traveling with daughter and grand babies (a 3 yr old and 1 yr old). Good suggestions for a hotel on the way?


Any thoughts on the 2 routes? Advantages/disadvantages?

Yes.

We drove through Georgia last time and it took us about 2 hours to get through Atlanta. We won't go that way again.

Also, you can stop by the Alabama Welcome Center and see the Saturn IB rocket. It's also a great place to stop and eat if you want to pack a lunch.

Depends on the time of day.
We drive from southern Illinois, so very close to your locale. We usually hit Atlanta in the wee hours of the morning, so smooth sailing. I have lost up to an hour and a half during rush hour though.
