I am going to try faxing my room request for our June trip. Which location is better? I have a Wing Standard view reservation. Any ideas?
Thanks

Personally, I prefer North Wing, ground floor. North wing is closer to MK and ground floor means you don't have to take the elevator. Unfortunately, they are using the North Wing for the Shades of Green folks, so I don't know whether asking for it will help, but you might as well try. One map I have shows the 1st and 3rd floors of the South Wing were smoking rooms.

You might also want to request a room close to the mainbuilding. The wings are pretty big and I would not want to be in a room too far away from the main building....especially with small children. Since the wings do not have balconies, I would definitely request first floor so you at least have a patio. The North Wing is closer to the Magic Kingdom, but the South Wings have much better parking in my opinion.

Personnaly, I would wait until you got there to request the room, with a standard reservation. We've always had standard reservations (I guess twice counts as always) and each time it was upgraded to garden. As for a particular room, our favorite was 5111 (South Wing, close to tower, 1st floor). This is the way the room numbers break down

1st digit - 5 - south wing, close to tower
- 6 - south wing, far from tower
- 7 - north wing, close to tower
- 8 - north wing, far from tower
2nd digit - room floor
3rd & 4th digit - room number

Hope this helps. Enjoy.

MJames41,

We are staying at the CR in May of this year! I really enjoyed reading how the rooms are numbered! I also have to agree with you about not requesting a room #. I have been hemming and hawing over this subject for the last few weeks. I have decided not to ask for a certain room # in hopes that the we will be given an upgrade, or I can ask for a complimentary upgrade when we check in! I am hoping for some extra Disney magic when we check in considering that CR will most likely be very full with SoG guests being relocated here! Maybe this will be a better opportunity for a Tower Upgrade:) A girl can dream, can't she!!!

The only real advice I can give you is to request not to have a view of another side of the building... yes, this is possible and not very attractive. As for the walk from one part of the wing vs another to the Tower... the difference is about 3 minutes and less if you cut across the pool area from the South wing. Our room was 6317, but it was a garden/Bay Lake view, but we had a ressie for a garden view...it was slightly upgraded to view Bay Lake, so perhaps you will get lucky and get upgraded to a garden view. It all depends on how full the resort is, and whether that would be possible now that SoG is housed in the North Wing. Good luck!

I guess you guys are probably right, I should wait until we get there. Thanks. I was getting nervous because of the SoG relocation and NOT wanting a smoking room. My husband has asma and that won't work at all. I figured we would be stuck in a smoking room if it was to crowed, and June will be. Maybe I am worrying for nothing. Thanks for listening.
