Although I am torn between POR and CSR, I am leaning toward a mansion garden view room at POR due to cost and the double sinks. :rotfl:

We are not getting a Royal Room, so that leaves Magnolia Terrace or Acadian House. Am I correct in thinking Magnolia Terrace is a more central location to the food court, transportation and pools?

What are your thoughts re a room request? Which floor? Any info or advice to share? I need to book ASAP.

THANKS!!

Holy crap! I just realized I might get stuck in AB instead of the mansions and I'd rather stay in a Motel 6 than AB.

I can't get a royal room, as they are booked. Do you think they'll stick me in AB? I will look at CSR and ask some questions about it, just in case. I want to book by tomorrow.

THANKS!

Nothing wrong with AB, we stay there frequently (preferred, building 14 or 18, usually). I suppose you are saying you don't care for the decor, because otherwise I can't see how AB is something lesser than Mag Bend? The rooms are the same size, same amenities, etc, just styled differently. I actually like the new look of AB, post-refurb, but to each her own. AB 14, 15, 18, and 22 are all less than 2 minutes' walk back to the food court/lobby building, and just as close to the main pool on Old Man Island as any of Mag Bend is.

If you're not going Royal, then Mag Bend 85 (Magnolia Terrace) is your closest-to-services choice. It has a bus stop adjacent.

Unless you are a family of 5, there is no way to know which section you will end up in. The mansions have less standard room inventory now that the royal rooms have taken up two of the four mansion buildings. Only way to guarantee mansions is to book a royal room. Similarly, only way to guarantee AB would be to book preferred (or be a family of 5).

You can certainly request the mansions, however. I always do and haven't been turned down yet. The earlier you arrive, the better your chances. As far as whether Magnolia Terrace or Acadian House is better, they are essentially the same in terms of location. The path/bridge to the main pool and main building is directly in the middle of Acadian House and Magnolia Terrace so nothing gained or lost for either one. There is also a quiet pool directly in between the two. As far as the bus stops, there's one in the back and to the left of Acadian House and one in the back and to the right of Magnolia Terrace, so essentially the same again. The only thing Magnolia Terrace has on Acadian House is that it's nicer aesthetically on the outside (IMO!) and it's a few steps closer to POFQ if you plan to go there at all.

We stayed at the VERY FAR BACK of Acadian house last trip. We had a 4 year old and 9 month old (double stroller). Really you are talking about a difference of 100 yards. We always took the bus from the north depot (never had a full bus pass us by) and it was awesome to get dropped off at your room practically at night!

The walk to the pool/food court is a few minutes. But ODD (4) had no issues making it (in a full out run in flip flops) in 2 minutes to squeeze a run down the slide before it closed!
