Which rides/attractions should pregnant women (in their first trimester) avoid? Is there a list somewhere that anyone knows of? Thank you! :)

what rides! it doesnt take a doctor to know that and am shocked someone would need to ask!!!! even a mild ride has some sudden motions that are unsafe for a pregnant woman! anything with bumps or jolts, are NOT safe. mansion would be okay, but there arent many others.

Completely untrue. There are MANY attractions that are safe for pregnant women:

All the FL darkrides
Storybook Canal Boats
Casey Jr.
It's A Small World
Jungle Cruise
Dumbo
Winnie the Pooh
Pirates of the Caribbean
Nemo
Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters

. . . .just to name a few.

DLR is good about posting signs indicating which attractions are not recommended for those who are pregnant, have heart or back/neck problems. Those would include:

Matterhorn
Indy
Space
Splash
Autopia
BTMRR
Star Tours

I'm sure there are more, but those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head.

I didn't include any in DCA, but there are signs there as well.

I guess pregnant women should avoid cars, too, since there are occasionally sudden motions when on the road.

LOL at poster #2. Or should I say *eyeroll. Whatever you do OP do NOT ask if Splash is okay.. I got flamed for that a few weeks ago, :rotfl2:

We were at Disneyland last week and I'm in my 3rd trimester. I rode everything my 3 yr. old could ride (except Matterhorn and BTMRR b/c she is still scared of those). When you get your map at the gates they will have an icon by each ride pregnant women should not ride but they are the obvious ones like Indy, Matterhorn, BTMRR, Screamin' etc.

And whatever you do, don't list the rides you went ahead and rode during your 3rd trimester (cough*splash*cough), because your midwife said it was fine. Even if the child you were carrying at the time is now a healthy 9 year old. :rolleyes1:rotfl:

What a totally rude and unwarranted reply. That was ridiculous.

DangerMouse gave a great list OP and someone else has already mentioned the icon on the map. Just pay attention and you will be fine. Congrats and have fun!!

Oh wow...what an incredibly rude post...

Thank you to all those who gave thoughtful replies and truly answered the question with common courtesy and respect.

Researched this inflamatory topic last time it was brought up. First trimester, any ride that does not approximate a punch to the stomach is fine. Bumps and g forces are not dangerous during a normal, healthy first trimester. Use your common sense, do what you are comfortable with, and have fun.

Congrats and have fun!!

I'm not pregnant just yet but we are trying to conceive. So it'll be possible that I'll be in my first trimester when we go, so I just want to be prepared the best I can be! I want to avoid any attractions that aren't recommended for pregnant women. Just planning ahead for the safety of my (soon to be) little one! :)

Always consult your doctor....he/she will be glad to give you advise on the do's and don'ts for your pregnancy while at DLR.....

You can take a look at the list of rides here and explore:

Here is a list of rides that I don't think would suit a pregnant woman to ride. They are basically all the "big thrill" rides:
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
Indiana Jones Adventure
Matterhorn Bobsleds
Space Mountain
Splash Mountain
Star Tours
Gadget's Go Coaster

Have fun, and gl with the pregancy! :)

Oh well then, have fun trying! ;):thumbsup2:cool1:

I just found out yesterday that I am pregnant, so I will be 7 1/2 weeks along when we go next month. So I already assumed all the rollercoasters were out. But is Splash Mountain that bad? I haven't been to Disneyland in years but all I can think of is that one drop?

I agree with the list for the most part given. I am currently pregnant and have made 4-5 trips so far during this pregnancy and have plans for more. Thank goodness DLR is for the whole family so I got on lots of rides, including many of my favorites! I figure if a Mom can take an infant on the ride its safe for me :) Though Soar'n does break that rule ;)

I am sorry I am not touching the Splash Mountain thing, not after some of the last posts. If you have any questions about specific rides you can always discuss them with your Dr/midwife.

momto2nenas- let me just say  that thing turned unneccessarily ugly didn't it.

May be this person really does not know? Many pregnant women do not know what EDC is! We all have some strange beliefs.
