Which Rides/Attractions Are Most Awkward Solo?

I had the meanest CM who looked me up and down, asked how large my party was, and when I replied just 1, she then said to me in a really horrible tone 'really? - we don't get many of you here' !!!
Ouch! That is pretty darned rude, especially for a CM. Sounds like you handled it with grace though......good for you.

The only ride that's not as much fun for me alone is Splash, but that's just because my sister and I always have a blast singing along and having fun, it's just not the same without her!
LOL, I would do the same thing and drive my kids nuts. How fun is that!

The only attractive I felt awkward was at Pixie Hollow, I wanted to get a photo of Tinkerbell for my cousin's little girl (I'd promised her as she's Tinkerbell mad), it was before FP+ and I joined the line as it opened so only a few people in front - I had the meanest CM who looked me up and down, asked how large my party was, and when I replied just 1, she then said to me in a really horrible tone 'really? - we don't get many of you here' !!! Took me a few seconds to compose myself but I then asked her if she'd forgotten her pixie dust that day as she didn't seem so happy to be working the happiest place on the planet!

sounded like she was jealous.....

that was good of you to kept your promise - did she enjoy it?

takes me much longer to come back with a good line - good for you!!! don't like to have my picture taken so avoid those things.

Wow, you handled that well. She must have had a bad day. Anytime they asked "How many in your party?" and I replied with "One", I always got the "Only 1? Great! We can squeeze you right in here." Sometimes, families in front of me even offered to let me go first. Such nice people.

No rides are awkward to ride alone. Maybe not as much fun but never awkward for me. If I happen to scream or embarrass myself on the ride, chances are, I won’t even meet these strangers again so no harm done :joker:

Can't say I've ever had a rude CM in all my visits. Just the opposite, like your experiences. I've also never had a negative experience when they ask for a single to fill up a ride like Mission: Space. The folks in front of me can't use the seat anyways, and the folks behind are just glad there is one less person in line. On the other hand, I've been asked by a CM to wait to see if they can use me to fill in a row.

I like your attitude about enjoying the ride, though I'm surprised at how often I see people elsewhere that I've been on a ride with. However, few seem to recognize me so your theory is even more true.

I booked my first solo trip for September 2015. I am very excited to be "on my own" and do my own thing on my own time. I have a big family and have been to Disney World several times, the last few with my grown daughter. I made dining reservations and am not at all concerned about dining alone. If I feel a little awkward, I will review my plans for the following day and/or play on my phone. I am very excited. It will not be here soon enough. Of course - I do not mind riding on rides with other solo guests if the opportunity arises.

Sometimes I feel a little awkward when, at my "grandmotherly" age, I sit solo on Dumbo, Triceratop Spin, Goofy's Barnstormer, rides like that. Otherwise the only truly awkward experience was at Peter Pan's Flight, and that was primarily because of what was probably a misunderstanding by the CM, not because of the ride. It was shortly before closing, a long day, and I got in line for PP's Flight. When the CM said "How many?", maybe I looked glum, instead of tired, because when I said "One", he said "Oh, it's not really THAT bad." More embarrassing than anything.

I am actually going on my first trip ever to Disney World solo this coming weekend June 19th-22nd. I am a 27 year old male, and I had some concerns about riding some rides alone.

I have a fast pass for the following

Haunted Mansion

Space mountain

Toy Story Mania

Star Tours

Tower of Terror

Dinosaur

Everest

Particularly, for Toy Story Mania I feel like it might be kinda awkward, since the ride is made for families/ friends/ groups. But this topic has made me feel better about it ha. Anyone actually rode Toy Story Mania solo recently?

You'll be fine! Actually, I feel like Toy Story is probably the least likely to make you feel weird, since with the ride configuration, you can't really see anyone else's ride car unless you lean out.

I've met several solo males of varying ages, and none of them have felt weird on anything...go for it!

My solo trip was not a planned solo trip, so maybe that made a difference. Was meeting my mom for 3 days, but she didn't come. Found out as I was boarding the plane that she didn't feel well (she is in another state and is fine)

It was a little weird being the only one in my row on the boat for It's a Small World. Many times in the past I went to WDW with my daughter and she took a friend, so I rode alone in rides where there were only spots for two next to each other. We also do single rider lines when we can. Many rides like BTM and Splash they put me in a row/log with another which was fine. Most awkward was sitting alone in my spot waiting for the fireworks over the castle for about an hour at MK. Illuminations was also a little weird just waiting, but there I was able to strike up some conversations with others, MK, not so much as families were involved with their family. SO for me, it was mostly waiting for fireworks.

I attended solo when I was at a conference (if I'm in Orlando and at a conference at a Disney hotel you better believe I'm going to parks even if from 4 pm to close). I went on all those rides by myself and was fine. I actually got my highest score ever on Toy Story Mania b/c there wasn't someone else in the ride with me shooting at the high point targets. And Star Tours had zero line so I went on it four times in a row.

My advice is this: enjoy it all. Take some time you wouldn't if you had others with you and stop and really look around. You'll find details you never noticed before. It's amazing. It's great when you have family & friends with you, but if you keep an open mind you can have an awesome time solo.

Unfortunately, my family does not like to ride thrill rides. I've waited in line and used FP alone for most major thrill rides, and I never felt awkward at all :) Sometimes I even like to make coversations with others, it's nice.

I did it last year and had fun. Ironically, my score was much much less than when I've gone with one of my kids.

When I got there the line was pretty short and I virtually walked straight on to the ride, so I thought I might do it again when I finished. But in those few minutes the line had grown to a 20 minute wait by the time I came out. It was a Star Wars weekend and I rode Star Tours 3 times in row without a wait right after they opened. Same thing on Space Mountain at opening; I finished and there was hardly anyone waiting to get on so I asked the CM if I could ride again and he let me stay seated, which I did about 3 times. When I saw people waiting, I got off.

I didn't have any FP because I wanted the freedom to visit whichever park appealed to me at the time, though I sometimes got a FP once in the park. Except for Jungle Cruise I never waited more than 5 minutes, often much less, for a single ride. I was able to get in most of the rides in the first couple of hours before the families started to arrive.

I was singled out at Laugh Floor too! I laughed along but secretly I didn't want attention drawn to me. While I don't think any attraction is awkward solo, I prefer ones where you can get your own vehicle or you are grouped in with a big audience. The times when you are the one guy sitting with someone else's family is kind of odd. I was a single riding in a family's Test Track car for example. And they went to buy the photo so I can only imagine that the moment is immortalized in that family's memory with this one stranger guy added into their photo.

Haha. I think the exact same thing when I've been in people's pictures. But better that as opposed to someone who intentionally photobombs someone's pics. Plus with tech these days they can easily photoshop you out.
