Hi,

I am taking my nearly 3 year old son to DLP for the first time. I was wondering which rides would be suitable for him?

He enjoys the rides in our local shopping centre - Bob The Builder's Digger, Rupert Bear's Car, etc.

He doesn't like anything too fast. He went on a fast moving fairground car ride at Bridlington and freaked out.

Thanks,

Darren

Hi Darren,

Most of the rides in Fantasyland would be fine for him, only you really know your son but I'd say the following would be ok for most 3 year old's

Disneyland Railroad
Main Street Motors
Phantom Mannor *
Molly Brown
Pirates of the Carribean
Peter Pan
Dumbo
Mad Hatters Tea Cups
It's a Small World
Pinnichio *
Snow White *
The Carousel
Buzz Lightyear
Orbitron
Autopia

* some scenes may frighten young children on these rides

My advice would be to try him on all of them, I thought Kacee would hate Phantom Mannor but he loved that and hated Peter Pan!!

Yeah I agree with the above but just wanted to say he will have the time of his life and there is loads to do, my now 3 year old has gone 3 times and he doesn't talk about anything else!!:rotfl:

Fantasyland is perfect, most rides are really soft, gentle and slow.

The snow white & 7 dwarves ride is a bit creepy and will frighten young children, you mention he's a little nervy.. well Id definitely give that one a miss.

As for Phantom Manor?!? I certainly wouldnt take a nervous child or young child in there. very creepy, quite scary for small children, dark, ghosts, woooos and eerie noises etc.

i think there are a lot of rides suitable to young kids. my dd is just gone 2, she was 22 months when we went and went on everything she was old enough for. however she had no fear of anything so if she was a bit nervous i probably wouldnt have brought her on pirates of the carribean (two drops on this), snow white (it her scary adventures and focuses on the witch) phantom manor (well ghost train so could frighten small kids)

but there is still plenty to do. i didnt do anything but kids rides and we were busy all day long. hth.

I'm a definite no on Phantom Manor too - my 6 yr old won't go back on it. My DD was nearly 3 when we first went in February and she hated Peter Pan and POTC, wouldn't go back on them, probably because they are so dark. Snow White & Pinnochio in Fantasyland are also questionable if your child is a bit sensitive.
In Discoveryland Buzz is fine and may be OK on Orbitron as goes with you, don't forget to visit the Nautilus behind Space Mountain. Honey I shrunk the Kids is a possibility but may be better if they don't wear the 3D glasses and sit crosslegged on the chair (ie don't have their feet dangling down), and they will be oblivious then to the slightly scary bits.
In Adventureland POTC may be OK and there's lots to do exploring the caves and the pirate ship.
In Frontierland there's the steamboat, the keelboats if they are running, the Pocahontas play area and the Woody and Jessie meet n greet, plus whatever show is on at the Chaperral Theatre.
