I'm starting to work on our touring days while at DL and want to make a list of rides I can't ride (being 3 1/2 months pregnant at the time). I would like advice and past experiences from those of you who have ridden or not ridden certain rides at DL because of pregancy.

You're going to get a lot of varying responses on this one. If you want to go with the list Disney recommends you avoid, you will need to stay off:

Matterhorn
Space
BTMRR
Autopia
Star Tours
Indy
Splash

ToT
Screamin
Maliboomer
Mulholland Madness

I have gone two times pregnant (6 months each time), and I did the following rides after talking with my midwife (no flames please!):

Matterhorn (FL side)
Space
BtMRR
Splash
Screamin

I would recommend talking to your OB or Midwife to get their opinion.

There are others on the official list to avoid . . . like the teacups and Pirates. (At least on the "expectant parents should not ride" list for WDW.) I can't imagine those are for safety reasons, but for the comfort of the mother-to-be.

At WDW I've ridden both of those as well as Dinosaur (which is similar to Indy) while 2.5 months pregnant. I stayed away from the "mountains".

My OB's nurse (who I spoke to about the rides) didn't know a thing about the rides so she wasn't much help.

DangerMouse, I'm surprised that at 6 months pregnant you were allowed on some of those rides. I figured that if someone was obviously pregnant they would stop them from riding.

Yeah, I did forget a couple, like GRR and Gaget's Go-Coaster.

But nowhere on Pirates or the Teacups does it say "Expectant Mothers Should not Ride". Those attractions are perfectly fine.

I didn't show much at 6 months pg. I'm quite tall and hide pregnancy well. One CM did mention on the Matterhorn that if I was pregnant I shouldn't (not couldn't) ride. I told her "thank you for your concern" and then got on. :)

Yeah, I see that now. I remember when I was researching in January (by going to the park's websight and typing "expecting" in the search box) that the obvious ones plus teacups, pirates, kali river, and even soarin' were on the list. I see that some aren't there now. :confused3

Sorry to the OP for adding confusion to a very important question!

There are no restrictions on POTC at DLR. I rode it a dozen times while pregnant, even as far as 8 months along. :)

I've also rode Space & Autopia. Space is a very smooth ride and Autopia is only bumpy if you're hit by another driver. That doesn't happen that often. Or at least in my experience we've not been bumped often (if ever).

I'd personally not ride:

Indy
BTMRR
MH
Star Tours
Splash (not sure about this one since I hate that ride)
Roger Rabbit

ToT
Mulholland Madness
Screamin
Maliboomer
GRR

I made the mistake of riding Roger Rabbit while 8 months pregnant and was sooo uncomfortable! I had forgotten how much that ride jerks you around.

I went when I was 7 months pregnant.

I spoke with my OBGYN before going and he told me just to avoid fast thrill rides. Indy, matterhorn, Space Mnt and Thunder Mnt were the only ones he told me to avoid. (at disneyland)

Having said that Splash mountain was as fun as ever!

I went when 8-9 weeks pregnant with our first and only semi-enjoyed the trip, since I was fairly nauseous the whole time. I did ride Pirates, the teacups would have been a big mistake, but we enjoyed all the other Fantasyland rides. (Even Dumbo, which I hadn't ridden since I was 7, probably) The only ride I went on that had "expecting" cautions was Soaring, cause I had been on it many times and knew it posed no danger to me or the baby. I think it would probably have been fine to ride some of the "big" rides at that stage (if they hadn't made me sick) but my doctor advised against it, and for me it wasn't worth the risk of doing anything that -might- be harmful to the baby (knowingly). At the same time, I wouldn't have any problem with other mothers doing it if they felt up to it. It's between you, your doctor, and how you feel.

I may be gong soon with friends, one who will be about five months pregnant. The list looks about what I would expect... So GRR is out? Soarin' is in? I figured it should be, since it's not that wild, even if intense.

And I'd guess, looking over the boards the last few days, we'd want a non-swining gondola on the sun wheel? ;)

I been to Disneyland while pregnant twice. Once when I was 6 months along, and I rode everything, but the rides they recommend that you not ride. Then on another trip I went when I was about 3 months pregnant. I rode Indy and big thunder. I did talk with my OB before doing so.

I went to DL in Feb when I was about 4 mo pregnant. I asked my Dr. in advance and he said to avoid all rides with warnings. That's what I did.

Rides I didn't do
Matterhorn
Splash Mountain
Space Mountain
Indiana Jones
Gadget's Go Coaster

Rides I did
Roger Rabbit
Buzz Lightyear
Teacups
PotC
Pretty much all the kiddies rides, as I have a 5 and 3 yo

My SIL was just 5 weeks along when we went with them last. She had just found out a few days before we left. Her OB told her that nothing would be a problem since she was not very far along, so she want on all the big rides with no problems.

Anything jerky or fast.

BTMRR
Space
Splash
Indiana Jones
Matterhorn
Star Tours
Roger Rabbit
Goofy's Barnstormer

This is based on my own pregnancy and everyone will be different.

In addition to following Disney's "pregnant women should not ride" warnings I would hesitate on the following:

Autopia- The jerkiness would be too much for my sore back in the later stages even if I did not get bumped.

In the morning sickness stages I would skip Teacups and possibly Soarin'.

Again, these are strictly for comfort, not for safety, per se. You want to consider the impact your condition has on you and whether the ride will make you more miserable than happy. :) This is a good rule to apply to most activities while you're expecting, btw, not just at Disneyland. ;) Rest frequently, drink lots of water and if it doesn't feel good, don't do it!

I would absolutely NOT risk my unborn child by riding something with a warning on it, just like I wouldn't try to sneak a too short child onto a ride with a height limit. There are risks not worth taking.
