We are going to Universal and Disney at the end of June to celebrate my 50th birthday. We are staying three nights at HRH and four nights at Wyndham Palace. We will have our 14 year old son with us. Would like some recommendations on best restaurant for birthday dinner. At the moment, we have reservations at Emeril's. Is this a good choice? Money is no object. Not interested in anything too "stuffy". Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I would say go for Emeril's. It's the best food I've tasted! :)

Emeril's is an excellent choice if your son is used to the fine dining experience (it can be a little off-putting for some teenagers). Wolfgang Puck's at DD is also pretty good, as is Everglades at the Rosen Center Hotel on International Drive. If you like Italian, DiVino's at The Mercado on I-Drive is excellent. Then there are the Disney resort hotels. The California Grill at the top of the Contemporary Resort is quite spectacular, while Artist's Point at Wilderness Lodge is also a great place to dine. Narcoosee's (Grand Floridian) is another fine choice (with great views over Bay Lake for the Electrical Water Pageant) and 'Ohana's at The Polynesian offers yet another different but fine style.

There is plenty of choice, as you can see :D

We loved Emeril's last April....except my children who NORMALLY love that type of food & setting. They were "off" due to the heat, and really didn't want to be there. My DH & Dad & I had a wonderful lunch though.

And FYI we had lunch vs. dinner because it was a surprise for my Dad's bday. Since it was a surprise we couldn't tell him to pack the appropriate dress clothes required for dinner. Lunch is much less formal.

All 7 of us also enjoyed Morton's that trip. Ages ranged from 5-65 so it's pretty rare to find a restaurant that pleases all.

Happy bday dining!

Anywhere Disney - a character dinner will make you feel young if they sing to you, but your 14 year old will be mortified! There are many disney resort restaurants that would appeal to all of you. Happy 50th - just had mine!
