We have a grand gathering to celebrate my mother's 70th birthday...there will be 18 of us, age 2 to 70. I have eaten at many restaurants at WDW, but I am looking for any suggestions! I don't think anyone in our party will be into anything like the Hoop Dee Doo but I do think that may be a great place for a big birthday. What do you all think?

I think the Biergarten would be fun with the live band, dance floor and the great buffet.

HDDR was my first thought. Why don't you think your party will be into it? It is a great dinner show for all ages and they do acknowledge birthdays! We have taken three generations to the show and all loved it. :)

Definately book a late afternoon high tea at the Garden View Tea Lounge at she GF. She will LOVE it! :lovestruc

Also, this is not an ADR suggestion, but during out last trip, we were at the America Pavilion listening to the Voices of Liberty singers inside the pavilion and they did a special dedication & sang Happy Birthday to a guest there who was celebrating her 80th birthday. Her family/friends must have set it up beforehand. It was really nice and you could tell this woman felt so special, she was just BEAMING!!

You can speak to many performers throughout WDW and they are very happy to set up a little dedication & sing Happy Birthday to guests. and a 70th birthday is quite a big deal!!

Not sure who to speak to at Epcot to set it up-I would just go to the America pavilion and ask a CM who to speak to.

Don't forget to get a Birthday Pin for her to wear throughout her trip-you can get one at Exposition Hall at MK and/or I think at your resort-?? Can someone confirm this?

You can get a birthday button at any of the parks (City Hall at the Magic Kingdom or Guest Services at the other parks) and all hotels.

When we were in Epcot at American Adventure in September celebrating my 50th, they introduced four of us who were celebrating birthdays (I did not tell them how old I was).

I will definitely get her a birthday pin...I will absolutely look into the thing at the American Pavillion too, that sounds great!

I am going to try and strike up some interest in the Hoop Dee Doo Review, I think that because we have a lot of vegetarian's in our party they will not be that interested in the menu. I think it would be a blast!

If you decide to do HDDR, be sure to let them know how many vegetarians you have in your party. Have them note this on the ADR when you call and also remind them when you check in. They will make sure your party is accomodated with a full meal that they can enjoy. WDW is very good about accomodating special diets at every restaurant you go to!

My mom will be celebrating her 75th birthday while we're down there in Sept. She loves the characters more than any kid, so I made an ADR at 1900 Park Fare and had the CM make a notation that it was her birthday. I also plan to order her a specialty cake. I just think it will be so cute having Prince Charming and Cinderella wishing her a Happy Birthday. I'll make sure she has her birthday button on. When I made the ADR the CM asked if I wanted her birthday noted on any of our other ADRs. I told him. no, just the one that's on her actual birthday.

That's funny--when DH and I went to the Biergarten on our last trip, we sat with a gentleman who was celebrating his 70th birthday. What a coincidence.

FWIW, I think he had a good time although he didn't let the server know so nothing out of the ordinary was done--I know we had fun celebrating with him. :thumbsup2

All of these ideas sound wonderful....is anyone has spent a big birthday at the HDDR please fill me in on the details!
