We're going to DL on Sept 21-29 with some relatives to celebrate my dad's 70th birthday, my brother's 36th, and my DD's 7th. What restaurant do you recommend? I have Goofy's Kitchen and Blue Bayou in mind. But if there are other suggestions of good restaurants, that'd be great!!!

Thanks all!

If you are going to DCA then you may want to try Avalon Cove or the Soap Opera Bistro. Both Goofys and Blue Bayou are great - you should do those too.
I'll be there then too!
Have fun!

Blue Bayou

Hook's Point (DL Hotel)

Napa Rose (Grand Californian)

Granvilles Steak House (DL Hotel)

Club 33 (had to throw that one in!)

Jazz Kitchen (Downtown Disney)

(I would go for the Blue Bayou with a waterfront table!)

Thanks, Hookedup and roymccoy, for your suggestions. BTW, roymccoy, how do I get a waterfront table at the Blue Bayou? I've always tried but have never succeeded. Please offer up any advice you have!!! Thanks!

You will have better luck for lunch but dinner is usually not a problem. Explain to the CM when you make your reservations that it is a special occassion and that you would like a water view.
Then, when you return at your time, tell the person who puts you in line that you would like a waterfront table. They will roll their eyes and moan that it may be an hour wait but just tell them that you want it. We have never waited more than 20 minutes! There are chairs to sit on inside the waiting area. Make sure you keep an eye on the person who is actually calling the names for seating. Sometimes they forget you. Make occassional eye contact with a smile and a wave!

Works everytime!

Good luck,

Roy

5. Goofy's Kitchen (don't miss this!)

4. Blue Bayou (great atmosphere, but so so food and service)

3. Avalon Cove (in DCA, fun, good food, and beautiful views at night)

2. Y Arriba Y Arriba (DTD, great food and entertainment)

1. Rainforest Cafe (DTD, my personal fav, great in every way!)

1. White Water Snacks (Grand Californian)
2. Village Haus (Disneyland)
3. Tomorrowland Terrace (Disneyland)
4. Award Wieners (California Adventure)
5. Wetzel's Pretzels (Downtown Disney)

the blue bayou is much more romantic and special than the soap opera bistro, however it's VERY crowded (in terms of the number of tables they squish into a small space......)....years ago there were far fewer tables and it was much nicer that way....
the soap opera bistro is much roomier......and it's kind of fun......however, i thought the food at the blue bayor was better though...i think that between the two i would certainly opt for the blue bayor....

we didn't try any of the other restaurants....

and yes, definitely tell them about all the birthdays....i'm sure they'll make a big deal....we were at WDW for my mom's 75th and they were incredible everywhere we went......

Some people have suggested the soap opera bistro, and I thought I'd mention that I read news on the Mouseplanet site just a couple of days ago that the soap opera bistro is closing down. I'm not sure if it's already closed, though, or will be soon. Just FYI...
