Which resorts are walking distance??

Which resorts are within walking distance to the finish line of the 1/2??

Also, my map is a little fuzzy for the 1/2 is the start and finish in the same area???

Kim,

The start for the half is on the "highway" that wraps around the outside of Epcot. It is about 1 mile down the same road as the start for the full marathon. You are corralled that morning in the Epcot Wonder parking lot and then they release each corral to walk over to the outer road around Epcot for the start.

The finish line is the same for both the half and the full. It's in the Wonder parking lot right outside the main gates for Epcot. You actually run around Spaceship Earth, go backstage for a brief few moments, then emerge out into the finish line area in the parking lot with the grandstands, people cheering, music, etc. It's quite overwhelming.

On to your question: really, the only resorts within walking distance of the finish line are the Epcot resorts (BW, BC, YC, Swan, Dolphin), but you have to walk back through Epcot and out the International Gateway to get to those resorts. It's at least a one mile walk from the finish line.

There are a few resorts near the starting line for the half (POFQ, POR, OKW), but they are a further walk to the half start line as opposed to the full, and I've heard reports from last year that Disney security is really trying to keep people from walking to the start from these resorts since you have to cross a road and go over an entrance ramp to the highway. Can any of you guys comfirm this?

Other than that, nothing is within walking distance. And keep in mind that if you do walk back to the Epcot resorts after the race, you'll need admission to the theme parks to get through the main gate.

Kim if you have a park pass and can get into the Epcot park there is a British Pub called the Rose and Crown. Erica, Robert, Linda and I (and any one else who wants to) are stopping for a cold beer to rehydrate and recap our memories of the day. There will be a tall cold beer with your name on it if your interested, then you can catch a bus from epcot to your room, so you can take a short nap, shower and meet everyone for dinner.

Monica of course we are meeting for dinner with any of the wonderful WISH group for dinner after. And assuming Erica and I are still able to move under our own power we will be going dancing after at pleasure island.

Your race packet will contain a ticket for free admission to all the clubs at the Pleasure island for a party till 3 am. If your interested we would love your company. We did the party after the 2005 marathon and it was awesome, it's all just the athletes and their friends and family, everyone is dancing and wearing their medals and hugging and congratulating each other.

Monica - Last year we met on Friday night at POP and I think everyone is planning that again this year. Not everyone is there, but it is a great time. There is also a meet on Monday morning I think at the Boardwalk Bakery. After the 1/2 and Full some people meet in groups and others celebrate with their families. Watch for the posts about the meet ups, I am sure more info will start to be posted soon!

We stay at BWV the last 2 Goofy's. We walk from the finish to the room through EPCOT. It is a nice stroll to work out the legs after each race. Remember EPCOT opens at 9:00 am on race days so there will be a line if you try to go after the half(or you will have to chill until than). Nothing is open at the World Showcase untill 11:00am.

After the marathon, everything is open and the slow crawl back to the room is interrupted by a pit stop in UK at R&C. Sometimes it takes a while to get our legs back and able to finish the journey. At least a few pints worth Hope to share some with all after the 3rd Goofy.

To the start, I don't think there is any resort to walk from. The full I here you can try OKW to the start.

Best to take Disney transport and save yourself some stress

That sounds great, I think we will have park passes for the 1/2 not totally decided on that yet.
