hi everyone...
my parents are debating taking a family vacation in january..meaning them, me, my brother, and a friend for each of us....they were asking me to get suggestions of where to stay..i know they dont want to stay in all stars or pop...i just stayed in caribbean beach and loved it...so they are considering that..but just trying to get some ideas..my mom has a bad back and cant walk too long of distances..thanks guys!!

At that time of year you should be able to treat yourselves to one of the Deluxe resorts at a very reasonable rate. Check the rates for AK or Wilderness Lodge, the Poly, Contemporary, or the GF. We got a huge room discount for being Disney VISA cardholders on our June/July trip and it may be worth it to buy APs just to get the room discounts.
There is no one right answer. Check out the rates and then you will want to choose a theme that is of interest to you.....do you want to go "Hawaiian" or "African" for example. If you have some issues with mobility, I'd stay on the monorail route. Whittle down the choices and then be happy with what you've chosen. That's the reason return trips are so FUN !!

I am disabled- have a bad back, too. That is the ONLY reason I stopped staying at Carribean Beach. I like Port Orleans as a moderate if that is your $$ range. With six people you will need 2 connecting rooms

With a group that size- home away from home resorts is another option. You can buy DVC points from members and stay there. There is a DVC forum here if that sounds interesting. I would go that route rather than getting 2 rooms in a deluxe resort, but that is just my opinion. I am sure you will have plenty of other opinions by the end of the day
