We bought AKV when we were there last year. Disney was offering incentives for AKV and SSR at the time we purchased. There are resale markets out there where you can buy into the other resorts if you prefer.
The decision for you should be based on what is important to you, but also consider the life of the contract. AKV is away from most of the Disney "park and party" scene, but offers the benefit of a more relaxed atmosphere

and the ability to sit on your balcony and watch the animals on the Savanna.

At this time in our lives, at the higher end of the young range (me-48, DW-46), the parks are still exciting for us and our older boys, but we know that in time the tranquility of being away from it all, and the ability to take grandkids to see the animals will become more important.

We got to stay two nights at SSR and it seemed to be more relaxed, but it and OKW are near Epcot and DTD, if that is important to you or your family.
Each resort has its pros and cons. Read all you can on The DIS about the different resorts (there are threads everywhere) and figure out what is right for you and your own situation. You aren't "stuck" at any one resort all the time when you buy because you can make ressies at any of them, but you should purchase at the one that fits you best because it is normally a lot easier to get a reservation 11 months out at your home resort, than at some of the others when the 7 month window opens for you.
