Which resort would you choose for 1bedroom villa stay?

I wouldn’t consider OKW simply because I think Saratoga Springs is the better Disney Springs area resort. I love AKV, but the lack of Murphy beds at the moment would give me pause unless your kids simply don’t care. I’d also consider boardwalk, beach club, and Boulder Ridge as options for your February trip. All of those will be significantly less points than grand Floridian 1 bedrooms.

Thanks. My biggest issue with BW, BC, and BR is the kids would either have to share a bed or we’d have to do an air mattress, neither of which are great options. At my kids ages I think they’ll be ok on fold-out sleepers.

Right right. You did say that.

Are you considering going to Disney springs more than once for entertainment/dining? If so, that would make SSR the easy choice for me. We stayed there in March 2023, and absolutely loved the resort and access to Disney springs.

Probably only one evening at Disney Springs. I’m thinking we’ll be choosing SSR more when the kids are older and want to bring friends along 🤪

We would choose AKL savanna view out of those options, but the other two are nice as well.

If you don't want to spend the points on the view, probably still go with AKL but then it's pretty even across the board.

I'll preface this by saying that I haven't stayed at any of these. But based on your above comment about probably staying at SSR when they are older....I'd probably pick AK this time then. Based on what I've seen/read, it seems like a good choice for kids as long as you can tolerate the longer bus rides.

We have three boys (ages 9, 6, and 4) and we have stayed at AKV, OKW and SSR, along with some others. I would vote SSR then AKV and then OKW. SSR has the Murphy beds, which are an awesome upgrade to the pull-out beds. Plus, the multiple pools were hits with our boys. The only minus might be dining unless you are willing to head over to DS.

AKV, unofficially, has a zoo, and officially some of the best rated dining of any WDW resort. But you may want to see if the menus are too adventurous. Our boys loved the Kidani pool and my wife and I loved the pool bar. The only downside is the pull-out bed and the long hallways. We also did a Savanna View, and while great, it wasn’t required to see a lot of the animals.

OKW will give you a lot of room, but the property is quite large and I’m not a fan of the quiet pools. The dining is also not relatively strong compared to other deluxe resorts. We did have a short walk to the bus stop and the busses were never full, so I did like that.

FWIW, we would happily stay at all three resorts. With DVC Deluxe Villas, you can’t really go wrong. Worst case scenario for any given resort: it’s different.

As a person who's stayed at all 3 I would say that AKL is a wonderful stay for the theming as well as the pool at Kidani. OKW has larger rooms and you can take a boat ride to DS as well .Laid back atmosphere and many nice smaller pools. SSR is even more spread out than OKW and has more of an adult atmosphere IMHO.
Good luck and have fun.

We’re VGF owners and want a 1bdr for our February trip, but would like to save save points, so looking at lower-point options that VGF. My kiddos won’t share a bed and hubby and I would like to have the bedroom to ourselves, so we need a resort with two beds (Murphy/single or sofa sleeper and chair) in the living room.

Considering AKV, SSR, and OKW. Which would you choose? Any other resorts I’m missing that sleep 5 in the 1bdr and require fewer points? Kiddos will be 9 and 12 at the time of the trip. Thanks!

Old key west has the larger Rooms just ask for two beds in the area good luck
