There will be a group of 7 of us...myself, DH, my parents, my sister and her husband and my son (16 months old) going in May and most of us will be staying at DVC for the first time. It will all be their first time at Disney also. DH and I stayed at the Boardwalk back in 2001.

I'm having a hard time deciding which resort to try and book a reservation at. At first i thought of booking at SSR (our home resort) but then i thought BCV or BW would probably be a better location...if they are even available. Anyone have any suggestions.

Also, if i book a reservation now and then need to change dates in the future am i able to do so? We have a September use year.

Thanks!!!

What type of room(s) are you planning to get? If you are looking at a GV, I would go for OKW. Also, the 2-bedrooms at OKW are quite a bit bigger. So if you are planning to all stay in one room, you might look into going there. If you are looking at a number of rooms, then I would choose BCV for the location and SAB. But I'm not sure I would try to squeeze your party into a 2-bedroom at BCV. That would be pretty tight in my opinion. If you had some young children, I might have said AKV for the new pool area and animals. But the location of BCV would win out for me with your particular group. We are staying at BCV in May. We have 7 people too and have reserved two 2-bedrooms. But I'm a stickler about no one having to sleep in the livingroom.

I was looking at getting a 2 bedroom. It shows that it sleeps 8 and since there are 6 of us plus a baby i thougth that would be plenty of room.

All the resorts have advantages and not too many disadvantages. I'm partial to BWV and BCV due to a) walkable to Epcot & DHS, and b) the evening entertainment and people watching on the Boardwalk. It is easy to walk over to BWV from BCV.

Since this is your first trip: I'd suggest renting a car for a day or 2 and drive over to each of the DVC resorts and wander around. Stop at the front desk and ask for a map of the resort. Get a feel for each of them. I do recommend using a car for this since taking a bus between resorts requires a transfer and isn't very convenient.

I would want a dedicated 2 bedroom, one that has 2 queens in the second bedroom. BWV hasn't any of those, and BCV only a few. Getting that third real bed would be my priority because you have 6 adults.

I'm going in late May early June and we are going to try out AKV this time. We don't love that it is furthest away from the other parks, but we love AKL!!!

The Flower and Garden Fest should be going on while you are there so being at BWV or BCV would be nice if you are into all that. BWV is one of our favorite DVCs because of location and decor.

And yes, you can change your dates to a future date as long as the start date of your new date is within your 7 month window (and before your points expire). I'm actually in this situation now. I borrowed points from 2009 for a trip next May, but I'm now having to change the dates to the end of may/early june. I have AKV booked now for mid-may but I can't change to the new date for another week because it isn't within my 7 month window yet. (Which reminds me, I need to call and cancel that other room so I'm not taking up inventory!)

I'd say exactly the opposite - with six adults I'd want the second door so people can come and go without disturbing the entire party.

A dedicated two bedroom is a room that is only used as a two bedroom with the second bedroom having two queen sized beds. A non-dedicated two bedroom or a lock-off is a one bedroom villa and a connected studio. The studio has a queen sized bed and a sleeper sofa and a kitchenette.

Some dedicateds at BCV ended up with a pullout and a queen bed. There is a booking category at BCV specifically for 2Q in the second bedroom.

crisi, I was just about to say that myself. Everyone be careful, not all dedicated have the two queens. I asked for a dedicated for one of our 2-bedrooms because my DGD (3) and DGS (7) will be in that room. I was able to get dedicated, but not with 2 queens.

To the OP, be sure to check out the room layouts and how you feel people will sleep in the 2-bedroom. I would ask yourself whether your parents and your sister and husband will be comfortable sharing a room. If not, then remember that you will have a couple sleeping in the living room. A lot of people have no problem with that. I do, since I like to get up early to make coffee and relax before everyone gets up. The other thing to consider is the bathroom situation. If someone is going to sleep in the living room, you may want to consider staying at AKV in the new Kidani Village. That resort is the only one that has the extra bathroom off the living room. That way each couple has their own bathroom.

going with family can be difficult - in your case would book 3 studios - a little more expensive than 2-bedroom - but not much.

then if someone cancels on you - you can just cancel the studio.

downgrading from a 2-bedroom is much more compliciated. first you have to cancel the 2-bedroom then try and find a 1-bedroom.

would go with BCV or BWV just because of the actitivies and stuff that is happening at EPcot because of the garden/flower festavial.

if you can't get there - then go with VWL.

love OKW - but May can get as hot as summer - would want easy transportation to the parks.

How are the buses from AKV running? I always wondered if it was a hassle with the buses from AKV and never booked there thinking it would be along haul. (forgive my ignorance on the subject.)

Maybe we're just lucky, but we've never had an usually long wait at AKV or back from the parks to there.

when they go it is wonderful - but before they switched to the computer - it was horrible (my opinion) the AK bus itself was late for EMH.

got out there at 8am (okay a little late) - it 8:45am before a bus going to AK showed up - so missed EMH morning because of the bus.:sad2:

a couple of days later - the MK waited over 35 minutes for it.

on my next trip to AKV,at the studio going to AK - waited over 45 minutes for it.

heard that since the computers have taken over it no longer has these problems.

that say it is a wonderful place to visit. not necessary to go to the parks. enjoy it so much thinking about buying a small amount there.

Sounds like SSR.. I never had a problem getting a bus from SSR to anyplace.. but getting a bus back.. was a wait.. and I am not liking the wait.

I would love to stay at AKV, but not sure I will like the wait..
