We are planning our first trip to WDW for late September and I'm trying to book our hotel. We are going to have a dining option. Originally we were planning on staying at the All Star Movie but is it worth it to upgrade to a moderate hotel? We would like the moderate because of the refrigerator and the on site restaurant. Are the other hotel ammenties worth upgrading? If so which moderate hotel would you choose? It would be for dh, myself and 4yo dd.

IMO, it's worth it upgrade to a mod. All the moderates have something special about them. I would suggest looking at the pics and reading about them on www.allearsnet.com

This will give you a starting point and some great info. Then, you'll be able to decide which mod looks most interesting to you.

I just got back today after staying at POP....just a month ago, I stayed at POR. My advice? Stay in a moderate. The value resorts are noisy and TINY. I was at WDW for my first SOLO trip and figured I only needed a value resort while going alone...It wasn't the most pleasant experience to be perfectly honest...I had trouble sleeping each and every night because of the noise....the walls at POP are made of cardboard...I could hear everything.

I hardly think the room size is appropriate for a family but should be okay for one or two people.

I liked the POP resort theming and vibe of the place in general but it just wasn't comfortable enuff and most of the people staying there were not considerate as far as the noise went....I hardly spent any time in the room and it still got on my nerves. I also missed the fridge and had to get a disposable cooler while at POP.

Spend the extra money on the moderate...it makes a HUGE difference...trust me...I've stayed in MANY different Disney resorts at all levels and find the moderates to be the best bang for your buck. The one REALLY POSITIVE thing I will say about POP is the excellent location....it took no more than 6 or 7 minutes to drive to the MK....the farthest park....basically, everything was on my doorstep.

We stayed at POP in April and I was actually surprised at how quiet it was. I am a very light sleeper and always dread trying to sleep at hotels because of the noise factor. I didn't have this problem at all while staying at POP. I guess it all depends on who your neighbors are.

BTW ~ I don't remember having a fridge at CBR. Could be my bad memory though.

It's definitely worth the upgrade in my opinion. Keep checking mousavers.com for the codes to help you get better rates.

We've got a family of 6 so we are limited to where we can stay. Last summer, we stayed at Coronado Springs and got two adjoining rooms. The suites there didn't sound worth that kind of money. I really like staying at nice places and was really bummed that my hubby wouldn't spring for 2 rooms at a deluxe. (Previously, before baby #4 , we stayed at different deluxes)
Bottom line, I loved Coronado Springs. It's got the best pool area and the landscaping is beautiful. The only thing I don't like about moderates is that they are very spread out, but I think Coronado is more beautiful all around than most of the deluxes. I loved the lobby area and they have great margaritas! There are also lots of trails(we are always too exhausted) to explore.
We also once stayed at Fort Wilderness. I'm not a camper(we sold our RV) but the property was neat. Fast boat rides to Magic Kingdom and nightly marshmallow roasts/movies with Chip n Dale. I thought it was great value.
Another favorite is Wilderness Lodge. I'd still like to stay one day in Yacht & Beach Club. I wish Disney didn't force large families out like that. they always ask your children's ages; Has anyone ever lied to them and snuck an extra child in?
