Since I will have a car at WDW, I was thinking of visiting resorts and enjoying their restaraunts. I have narrowed down the search to menu or family style dinning and am interested in others ideas. Thanks.

Ohana at the Poly resort is really good. That's the only resort restaurant I've been too though, so not much help here:lmao:

Our upcoming trip we have ressies at Boma, Chef Mickey's and at the Hoop Dee Doo dinner show, and our course Ohana again.

'Ohana is definately a favorite. I LOVE Kona for breakfast (Tonga Toast and macadamia nut pancakes.) Both of these are at the Polynesian.

We enjoy Whispering Canyon Cafe at Wilderness Lodge both for the atmosphere/entertainment and the skillet lunch or dinner. It's a cool hotel to see if you've never been there.

The sundaes at Beach Club's Beaches and Cream are to die for! It's nice to take a walk around the boardwalk while you're in that area too.

I truly enjoy Sanaa at Animal Kingdom Lodge too. It's surprising because I don't have andventurous tastes but I have enjoyed it twice and love the atmosphere too.

What meal are you interested in and who is in your party? For your original post it's hard to tell if your looking for sit down or buffet places.

For breakfast, my family's favorite is Boma. It's a buffet. For sit down, Kona and Whispering Canyon Cafe are good.

For dinner, my family's favorites are Narcoossee's, California Grill, and Flying Fish. They are all Signature places. The food and service have been great.

We love the Grand Floridian Cafe. Not intending to be dense or argumentative, but I don't understand why one would need a car to visit resorts though. The bus/boats/monorail have got us to many resorts that was not the one we were staying at for dining.

Using a car is much faster and, to many, easier. Let's say you're at the Port Orleans and you want to eat at GFC. You'd need to take a bus to MK and then the monorail to GF. If you want to go any resort from a resort, you'll need to transfer at some point. So the rule of thumb is to allow about 60 to 90 minutes, instead of 30 with a car.

I would 2nd (or 3rd) a visit to AKL. We ate at Boma for breakfast which was nice- but the resort was beautiful to check out and I loved loved the gift shop. Found cool things I didn't find anywhere else.

CSR also has the Pepper Market buffet thing now. I enjoyed it when we stayed there and it's a pretty resort to see.

I can also recommend the Captain's Grill at the Yacht Club. For breakfast you can order ala carte or the buffet and lunch a casual sandwich. That can get you a look outside at that area.

Or... if any in your party are big sports fans, check out the boardwalk and go to ESPN club. Normal anywhere fare, but my sports fans boys love all the tv's.

We like to check out the different resorts as well, and will even eat a quick serv meal at some, esp. if the resort is a "contender" for next year's trip.

I'm curious why you didn't like these three, I've never been to them but they are on my to-do list because I'd read such positive reviews.

Places to which I would return:

California Grill-Contemporary
The Yachtsman Steakhouse-Yacht Club
Cape May character breakfast-Beach Club
Boma (dinner, haven't tried breakfast)-AKL
Big River Grill-Boardwalk

I wouldn't go back to Captain's Grill at YC, either. After one great meal there in 2005, we've had two less than stellar experiences since. One involved produce stickers still on the apple slices in our sandwiches, and the other involved raw meat on a salad. There are enough other options, especially with Epcot within walking distance, that it's pretty easy to cross this one off the list.

Captains Grill I would never step foot in again as the food was disgusting and the manager should not be a manager at dennys let a lone at a deluxe resort hotel.
1900 park fare loved the characters, food was ok but hated how they pack you in like sardines.
big river grill - not impressed with the food and the waitstaff and hostess leave much to be desired.

Wow! We had 2 good meals at CG (1 breakfast and 1 lunch), though at one of them I did think the waiter was a little snooty, but foodwise liked it. However, when I hear "raw meat" I get freaked out. I think that is a definite detterent in this case.

Ah, gotcha! Thanks.
