We have 3 children who will be 4, 6 & almost 10 when we visit WDW in November.

Which resort is your favorite: Poly or BC/YC and why?

We will be visiting all the parks & plan to build in a day to spend at the resort/pool/downtown Disney.

Thanks - I look forward to reading your replies.

From the age of your children I would say the Poly. We have never stayed there but it is very convenient for the MK. We love the Epcot area hotels (YC & BWI) because our DS is now 14 and we spend a lot of time at the Studios.
From the Epcot area hotels you can either take a boat or walk to both the Studios and Epcot.
If you plan on spending more time at the MK then the other parks definitely go with the Poly.

Thanks WDWGOOFEEE (wow - what a cute name!:) )

We will probably be spreading out our time throughout all the parks rather than focusing on MK. Locations of each resort can't be beat. Pros as I see them are:

Poly:
Monorail to Epcot and MK
'Ohana's (one of our favorite WDW restaurants!)
Volcano Pool
Water Pageant & MK fireworks from the beach
Evening torch-lit beach is beautiful

BC/YC:
Walk to Epcot & Quick ride to MGM
Stormalong Pool (arguably the best in all of WDW)
Beaches & Cream (never eaten there but seems great for kids)
Easy access to Boardwalk activities

We have walked around the resorts but we have never been inside the rooms or experienced the pools.

I know we can't go wrong with either but I am curious as to which resort people favor.

Thanks!:sunny:

We have stayed at the BCV before in November and loved it. Our kids at the time were DD 8, DS 4, DS 4. During Nov. the MK usually closes earlier than Epcot. Staying in the EPCOT area allows you to do more night activities. It is easier to see Fantasmic & Illuminations. It also is fun to walk over to the BW at night. We try and take advantage of the monorail between Epcot & MK. For example take bus to MK and then when it gets crowded take monorail to Epcot. We then walk back to BC doing things on our way. We have also done stuff in Epcot, taken monorail to Chef Mickey's, followed by MK fireworks.

My kids love SAB! They always wanted to get back to the room so they could get in the pool.

I prefer to stay at the MK resorts when the MK is open late and the EPCOT area off-season.

I recommend the Poly w/ the ages of your children. When our DD's were that age we did the Poly. But now they are 16 so we don't go to the MK like we used to -- probably 1 day during the trip. So now we stay at an Epcot resort BC/YC or BW.

We can't say enough about this resort . . . we originally booked YC for our trip and had to switch back to the Poly. Our 6 year old took one look at the YC pictures and told us mom, but Disney World is in Hawaii. Stormalong bay looks like a ton of fun but, we had a hard enough time on our last trip convincing the kids to leave the volcano pool and go to the parks. They will be 8, 6, & 5 on this trip and I am hoping the pool will have a little less of an attraction for them!

We have stayed at both the Poly and BC. We stayed at the BC in May and loved it, DD3 loves SAB and always asks to go back, but in Oct we are going back to stay at the Poly. We seem to spend most of our time at MK, so the Poly is much closer. The pool at BC is great, but being near MK is better for us.

Although TerriBelle has a good plan because of the later hours at Epcot during the off season. But with the TTC so close to the Poly, it still would be easier to get to Epcot. Both resorts are wonderful and have fun things to do. Are you going long enough to split your stay? That might be a good option.

Have fun.

There's lots of Poly and BC/YC fans out there, so you'll get lots of opinions, but....

We always stay at BC/YC with my two young nephews, and we love it. SAB is great, but it's just such a great area, with so many eating/activity choices. So easy to get into Epcot in the evening for food, Illuminations, etc. The rooms are lovely, too.

Of course, Poly's on the monorail!

Nice to have this problem, I guess!

You'll be happy either way, I suspect.:wave2:

Having stayed at both Disney properties I would chose the Poly. Your children are young and having the convience of monrail is helpful late in the day when your children are tired.
However, both resorts are wonderful and I am sure you will enjoy which ever one you chose.:D

I have two children, age 16 and just turned 4 last week. Both of them prefer YC. We were just there in July and the youngest one loves SAB and the 16 year old loves access to Boardwalk and Disney Studios. By the way, we stayed at both YC and Poly on this last trip. We also like having everything under one roof and not in separate buildings for when it's raining and such.

We have stayed at both Poly and BC. Both are great. Poly is better if you are going to spend a lot of time at MK (Monorail and and boats to MK and bus service was very good). The BC location (and pool) is also great - walk to Epcot, boat to MGM and close to DD, the water parks, and AK (but bus service was questionable as it was shared with many resorts). With the age of your kids, I would probably choose the Poly.

I vote for BC/YC! Even though our DD is 5 yrs old, she LOVES the pool at BC/YC- calls it the "sandy pool"- that in itself is our reason to go back each time!

Also, we love the convenience of walking to epcot and boardwalk each night! So much to do!

For Magic Kingdom, we either take bus or monorail (walk thru epcot)-

But for our benefit, there is much more to do at night in the epcot area than in magic kingdom area so we opt for the epcot resort area as our #1 location to stay!!! Very relaxing for our vacation!

Having stayed at both, I prefer Y&B Club. SAB is hard to beat with kids. The Volcano pool is nice, but it is tiny compared to SAB & SAB has all those neat features which make it so much fun.
The rooms at BC were so light & cozy. I just loved it. Poly is a bit darker & damp. There was an underlying smell & our Mousekeeper wasn't as efficient at Poly concierge as we had for BC std.

The little things I loved at the Poly were the concierge lounge (my only WDW concierge experience) the monorail access & watching the fireworks over Cindy's from the pool at night.

If I were to be in your position, I think I would split the stay & have the best of both worlds.

We stayed at YC Concierge in May with our DS8 and DS6 and loved it. It is a wonderful resort and SAB is great. The service was wonderful. It is probably one of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed at.

That said, I must say we prefer the Poly. We stayed at the Poly in 2002. The convenience (IMHO) of being on the monorail to MK and Epcot over shadows YC (IMHO) and the layout is much more relaxing and kid friendly. We did not like treking through the very formal lobby of YC in our bathing suits just to get to the pool or having our 2 active boys running around this very formal resort. We love Ohana's and Kona Cafe. The kids did too.

DW and I debated where to stay on our last trip and we got the best deal at CR and YC, so we thought we would try it and see which we liked better. Well, by far, it was the Poly.
