Which resort Pop/Sports or CSR/CBR would you suggest for family.
We are a family of 4 going the last week of Sept or first week of Oct 2010. I have 2 DS's 10 and 2 years old. We want a place that will be fun and entertaining for them and with a "food court" area with lots of choices for food while at the resort. Here's the pros we came up with for each:

CSR: queen beds, not as crowded?, bigger rooms BUT not alot of choice with food?
CBR: good food choices, great pool, BUT crowded?

Pop: stayed there before and loved it BUTwith only 1 son at the time
Sports: good theme for the boys, good food choices, reburbished BUT crowded and shares buses??

PLEASE any feedback, comments, etc are greatly appreciated! I want to book soon and we just cant decide! Please help :confused3

We haven't stayed at POP or ASSp, but have stayed at the other 2 and would definitely recommend CBR.

CSR does have the queen beds now (didn't when we stayed there), but we would rather have the extra floor space. We bring an air mattress for the kids. Plus CBR's rooms are larger than CSR's. We also like the bathroom set up better at CBR. Double sinks and more storage space underneath. There is also a coat rack/hanger at CBR and a bench with storage inside. CBR also has a table and 2 chairs (good for kids to have breakfast and/or snacks in the room). CSR only has one sink and has a desk with one chair.

We just find the atmosphere to be more family friendly at CBR. CSR is a convention resort, and while the conventioneers never bothered us, it just felt that the resort was geared more towards them.

We like the CBR food court much better. It has several hot food stations with lots of choices plus a grab n go station. Very convenient and easy to use with kids. CSR on the other hand has a different type of food court that requires tipping, getting cards stamped, has much higher prices, and you have to order your kids food from a completely different station, which makes it nearly impossible to all eat together.

We love CBR for it's spacious grounds and tropical relaxing atmosphere. We didn't find the pool anymore or any less crowded than the other resorts we have stayed at. The new pools are hard to beat though! The main pool is zero entry, huge, and has 2 slides. The children's pool is next to it with a pirate ship theme, a tipping bucket, and 3 small slides. There are also 3 playgrounds on the beaches. DH and I really enjoy relaxing on a hammock on the white sand beach by the lake and watching IllumiNations. :cloud9:

Good luck deciding! :goodvibes My CBR review ~ http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2074555

While the values are cute, I like the more laid back feel of a mod. And there's WAY LESS NOISE. I'm a light sleeper and can wake up at the slightest noise. At Pop, I got woke up every morning at 8 a.m. to the sounds of a pressure washer, and at 7 a.m. to the neighbors wake up call. One night, I heard the guy cough...

I never heard one thing at POFQ. The room is bigger. You get a fridge. Two sinks in the bathroom area. Water slide. I haven't stayed at CSR or CBR, but they are on my list. We're staying at POR next month. I've even debated switching to ASMo, but the values just aren't my cup of tea.

CSR or CBR get my vote.

I dont think you can go wrong with any of the mod resorts. They each have something unique to offer. I like both CSR and CBR - so I think you should pick based on theme. The food court at CSR is a bit different than CBR. The Pepper market/CSR offers stations where your food is freshly prepared. Some folks love pepper market, but some don't (it's expensive w/o the DDP), and since your orders can come out at different times, it can be a hassle with kids, just something to consider if you are planning to use the food court alot while you are there. What I like best about CSR is the newly remodeled rooms, queen beds and the Mayan pool is awsome. CBR is also very nice. It is brightly painted and you do feel like you are in the Carribbean, plus the new pirate pool is great. What I like about CBR is that the rooms are larger 340sq ft verses 315 sq ft and I think their food court has some great choices. You could be happy at either - good luck planning!!

We loved Pop when we stayed there two years ago. We were going to stay there again, but with free dining, we upgraded to CBR.

I am kind of scared that we won't like CBR as much as we liked Pop, but I really wanted to try another resort. And I have no particular reason to think that. We just really liked Pop. Am I crazy for staying at another place? Maybe! ;) We'll find out in a few weeks!

Good luck deciding! If I remember, I'll come back and give a Pop vs CBR report and maybe it'll help you decide. :)

We've done the All Star Sports for three nights before a switch over to the CSR. We couldn't wait to get out of the All Star Sports, and have never left the CSR (with the exception of a special occasion for oldest son at the Poly which we had stayed at before). We found the values way too noisy and crowded and even the kids did not like them. We've not tried the CBR for two reasons: 1) we are very happy at the CSR (eight near perfect stays) and 2) the theme just does not appeal to us (more so with the new rooms).

However, I don't think you can go wrong with either the CBR or the CSR; with the age of your kids, they would probably really like the new pirate-themed, zero entry pool at the CBR.

I have stayed at both Sports and CSR. I really really liked the Sports, but I didn't like CSR so much.

First off, the food court there is different kind of food court. You have to wait to be seated, and they bring you your drinks, so you are expected to leave a tip. But you still have to go and get your food yourself. It was kind of strange. Second, I was there with my sister and we were put out in the resort boonies, about as far away from the main building as can be. Now I know someone has to stay there, but it was a little off-putting to us. We were not comfortable walking around the resort at night, so once we were in our room we stayed there. It didn't help that we had some ding-dong banging on the connecting door in the middle of the night. I know that kind of thing can happen anywhere, but it really put me off of CSR.

We had a great stay at the Sports last year. The rooms were recently redone, and they look great! We were in Surf's Up, but had a room on the back side of the building, so it wasn't noisey at all. And we found that the Sports had its own bus way more often that it shared with the other All Star Resorts. I think CSR and the Sports are probably equal on the bus thing, as CSR has multiple stops within the resort. The All Star Resorts are right next to each other, so when they do share it takes very little time.

If your family likes to spend some time at the resort, relaxing and whatnot, I would probably say stay at CSR. You do have a nicer pool complete with hot tub, and rooms that are larger with bigger beds. But if you plan on being in the parks most of the time and just sleeping at the resort stay at the Sports.

That is my humble opinion.:flower3:
