Since we were given 4 complimentary UPH's because of the parks closing for Charley, my DH says we should take a trip for the two of us.

Which resort would you recommend? Which is most romantic? My DH is the romantic one of us two, and he is always complaining because I'm so un-romantic, so I would like this short trip to be special for him.

I totally cannot relate to your dilemma :teeth: but I am telling you...AKL is incredibly romantic:lovestruc That would be my #1 pick!

IMHO, WL is very romantic.

It really depends on your personal tastes with all the varied themes, but I also really like WL. BF and I think it's very romantic, and it feels secluded. If you like boats and have time, rent a boat from the marina. It's great to see the geyser go off from a different viewpoint, as well as seeing other resorts and the MK from the water. And have dinner at Artist Point.

I'm trying AKL for the first time in October, and from what I hear, that may become my new favorite. (But I really like WL because it's on the water...)

But for a trip for two - absolutely WL !!!

I can't disagree more with the above posters, if you want to go somewhere to be secluded, then go somewhere where you are on a beach, with no theme parks...just the 2 of you.....,

for 2 adults, there is no better location (imho) than an Epcot resort! The Yacht Club or the Boardwalk Inn would be my 2 picks.
Being able to walk to Epcot is so incredibly convenient and the Boardwalk in the evening with all the dining choices, and you can go have a drink at jelly rolls, or one of the lounges at the BW Inn, YC, BC, or the Swan / Dolphin. You have so many options right there, all within walking distance!

get an ice-cream cone at Sea shore sweets :)
catch at game at ESPN

Late at night, you can stroll around the Boardwalk, hand in hand while the moonlight shines on crescent lake, take a walk down the end of the dock at the YC to the lighthouse, or sit on a swing (for two) on the Beach in front of the Beach Club....

Go for a late night soak in the hottub at the quiet pool....

need I go on...?

Have a great trip!!!

Laura :)

Wilderness Lodge! For the first time we took the boat there from the Magic Kingdom and both my parents and I couldn't believe how INCREDIBLE this place looked! It seriously felt as if we had been transplanted from central Florida to the middle of some forest in the Rockies (does that make sense LOL).

For romance..AKL..you can't beat it. Hubby and I did a long weekend there (concierge) and it was fantastic..we never left the resort and could have stayed a few days longer. So relaxing and wonderful.

We are going to give Grand Floridian a try in a few weeks..long weekend..a little going into the parks, but, mostly hanging out and enjoying the resort. Lots of relaxing. Can't wait.

Another favorite spot..The Dolphin..epcot view with a balcony...it is wonderful!!

I have been lucky enough to get a time where my wife and I were able to slip away for about four days. There really is no way to predict which resort you will really enjoy. There is also only a small chance that you will go wrong with many of the choices you have. I would say to elliminate all budget resorts from your list right away. They tend to be very family/kid/themed. Not really right here for the situation. I would then move to the list of moderates. On that list POFQ seems to rise to the top. It is small and intimate. POR is a close second due to the similar theming. Coronado Sproings is off the list to me due to possibility convention and business use. Carribean Beach is not that appealing here to me either. We then have to move up to the Deluxes and that is a cost issue as well. The Yacht and Beach club, specifically the Yacht Club is my number one choice here. An Epcot resort, as one other person here put it, is a great choice. This gives you a great location. The Poly is out as well as the Contemp. The WL is okay as well as AKL. I have never been a big fan of either to be honest with you and that is where the theme and personal preference comes in. The themes do not appeal to me much at either. They would be just okay, not great. Grand Floridian is also a thought but seems a bit stuffy. POFQ is THE moderate to me and Yacht Club is THE best of the deluxes for your situation. Not that any of the other resorts are bad at all. This is just for your situation if I were in it. Only my opinion.

AKL for sure! DH and I were there over last spring break and we fell in love with it! The decor and ambiance were so lovely. We had massage therapists come up from the spa and we both got a massage at the same time in our room and then ordered the sunset dinner package - which they set up on our balcony - appetizer, entree, wine, dessert - the whole nine yards. The food was perfect! It might be one of the most relaxing and romantic nights DH and I have ever spent together. Victoria Falls is a great lounge. Some people have said it was noisy but we always found it to be quiet and sedate. They have a great wine list. The pool was also fabulous and even when it was a little crowded, the scenery, atmosphere, and landscaping still ensured that you felt like you were in a romantic and exotic locale.

Also, being without kiddos, the transportation won't be an issue. That's one reason we chose AKL last trip - we hope eventually we'll take many Disney trips with kids and then we'll want to be on the monorail or at one of the Epcot resorts. DH and I don't mind the buses at all and the bus service was fantastic.

Have a great trip!

If you would like to walk around and grab a bite or drink here or there - then an Epcot resort is absolutely the way to go. If you want seclusion then AKL and WL are both absolutely beautiful and extremely well themed. Wow tough choice haha! Enjoy!!

We are trying to make the same decision. If we stay four nights then we will probably resort hop and can try two resorts. Probably stay at a moderate for 2 nights and then to either WL or an Epcot resort. I'm pretty much leaving it up to my DH since I want him to have a great time (I'm the Disney nut!). He likes the look of CBR and he'd like to stay at either Yacht/Beach Club or Boardwalk. Anything sounds great to me!

I finally admitted to him my goal of eventually staying at every resort and he didn't flip out. :teeth: He might not be on some of those trips with me, but that's fine because I really don't think it's his goal...

everyone keeps saying "seclusions" when speaking about WL or AKL, it sounds as if you'll feel like you are the only ones at the resort... you will feel secluded, in your room! taking me to the point of any resort you will be secluded n your room. there are tons of folks walking around the WL and AKL. You are secluded, because you cant walk anywhere... these deluxe resorts are less expensive for a reason, not as convenient
AKL only has 1 pool... no quiet pool
WL has 2, but one is over by the Villas.

I agree with others that the buses arent a huge issue without kids, but, it can get a little bit of a drag if it is every time you want to leave thre resort.

again, I think that theming is the real issue here, does dark theming appeal to you, northwest mountains... african motif... which I agree are both absolutley gorgeous, but... when I go tot Florida, I happen to want to feel like I am in Florida... palm trees for me!

Angel,
Being from Florida and taking a majority of our vacations in WDW, I like being 'transported' somewhere else, while staying on grounds. In the winter (nice and cold outside) when we stayed at WL, it actually felt like we were somewhere in Oregon or N. Ca.! Which I think is one of the reasons alot of people like to stay at WDW. I'm so glad there are so many themes that can please so many different tastes.
PS> I love upstate NY (Blaston Spa, Saratoga Springs)! I am looking forward to staying at SSR in Dec. I hope I get 'transported' there too!

To OP,
I am going for my annual adults only F&WF weekend. My cousins and I meet up every year around the same time, to have some fun. Last year we stayed at CBR. It was nice. The resort is huge! But we got used to the long walks everywhere and really enjoyed the ambience.
This year we're staying at POFQ.
But you guys are going for romance. So with that I would recommend: GF or WL. IMHO- your best romantic choices.
Have fun planning!:wave2:

My vote would be for either the Wilderness Lodge or for the Polynesian. Both of these resorts are beautiful.

Princess angel, Since I'm from Oregon, my DH from CA and we met at Crater Lake National Park, WL is way romantic to us. Let's just say that it transports us back to a time without children. ;)

It's true, it's really personal preference. We've stayed at AKL and probably won't go back. The resort is beautiful and every visit I return to eat at Boma, but I just don't like to stay there.

I think that we'll try to stay a couple nights at an Epcot resort, if that isn't too expensive with the F&WF going on at Epcot when we're there. My DH also suggested GF, but it's really not my style and I'd rather save that for a future visit with the kids to be near MK, on the monorail, and in a room that will fit 5 people.

There are so many choices, which is great, but it makes it hard to choose.
