which resort for single mom

Hi.. I'm taking my 2 kids on the disney cruise in dec. after I want to stay in WDW. we will be back from the cruise on Dec 30th and wantt o stay until jan2. I am reading the mesages but still confused. My son is 4 and my daughter is 7. I will not have a car and don't want to have to walk very far to the bus and food courts. MY daughter loves to swim and go down water slides while my son likes to hang out in the tube. Bc of budget reasons I can only afford the moderates. Can anyone help me decide. Thanks so much.

Sounds like POFQ is the way to go! Its very compact for a moderate and has a great slide! Show your kids pictures of the site from allearsnet.com and let them see for themselves!

I am not a single mom but I have been taking my girls to wdw solo for several years. DH dosen't get the vacation time I get so when the girls have time off from school - we go!

The moderates are all great choices. In your case I would choose POFQ as its smaller or CBR and pay the extra $10.00 per night for the preferred room. For me the extra nightly fee is worth it to be guaranteed a room close to the main building, pool and bus stop. Of the two my personal preference is CBR.

Not part of your question but I always felt safe using the bus service with my girls and for me WDW is a great vacation to do as the only adult. We started doing our vacations when the girls were 3 and 5 and they are 7 and 9 now so if you have any more questions I would be happy to help.

Both pools have a nice set up and a small enough slide that you can stay with your son and keep a good eye on your daughter as she slides.

I am a single mom of a soon to be 14 year old son. We have previously stayed at AS Sports and CBR. My son loved CBR and told me he likes the moderates over the value because he thinks it is more relaxing (I swore those were his exact words). We are going again in June and trying out POFQ. He thought the pool area and the slide looked really cool and is excited about taking the boat ride to DTD (he loves Disney Quest). Plus, you can rent boats and bikes at the moderates. I like the fact that POFQ is a little smaller and has been recently refurbished. My vote is for a moderate and my son agrees. I never rent a car and always use Disney transportation and love it.

Another vote for POFQ. I have never stayed there but did a lot of research and was planning to stay there until I got the great deal at AKL. None of the rooms are far from anything and it looks like a lot of fun for kids the age of yours. The pool is way cool and there is a small playground, and of course all rooms being newly refurbished just makes it even better!

What kind of deal did you get at AKL. My son loves animals and he would love it there. It is jsut too expensive for my budget. How do you find out about great deals. Thanks

The deal is for the summer resort discount - only good until July I think. There may or may not be discounts for the time you go as that is a very busy season. Keep checking these boards or go to Mousesavers.com to find out about discount codes as your dates get closer - but be sure to go ahead and book your room now to make sure you get what you want. If you have AAA they also have discounts, but not as much.

Yes - if you can get a code or discount WL and AKL are about the same price as rack rate at a moderate and IDEAL for your situation.

Watch the codes at www.mousesavers.com - you may get lucky with a great discount. I would go ahead and book the room you want at a moderate and then if a great rate comes out for your dates try and switch. You can't be guaranteed a discount and you may not get your dates - so be ok with the original reservation. Then as your dates get closer watch for the "codes" - we all do!

Also - ask about an AAA rate or if your a nurse, teacher or govt employee the Swan and Dolphin often have good rates. Another favorite of ours!!
