We won't be going until Sept 2014, so we have some time, but we are starting our planning now. If it was just you and your DH (or DW), which resort would you stay? Any special view? I don't think we could afford CL (wish we could), but I think we could swing a deluxe.

If it were me, I'd go with the Poly. The tropical atmosphere is beautiful, the hammocks on the beach are great for relaxing and listening to the boat whistles as the boats go back and forth to MK, and it's romantic walking around at night under the lit tiki torches :cloud9:. With that said, I think you will have a great anniversary trip no matter where you stay. Happy planning :goodvibes.

It depends on your style & desire for convenience. Personally I really like the Contemporary. However, I know many people love the luxury of the Grand Floridian.

I will give you 3 choices in 3 different price ranges.
1. Polynesian. Probably THE best romantic choice on property. Heck, not probably, it IS the most romantic!
2. Wilderness Lodge. A Deluxe resort but not quite as expensive as the others. If you like Yellowstone's Old Faithful Lodge you'll like WL.
3.Port Orleans French Quarter. The smallest, most intimate of the MODs and has carriage rides around the resort, which seems like a fun, romantic thing to do.

I love all those resorts just mentioned, and would add Beach or Yacht Club. Walking instance to 2 parks, and The Boardwalk area entertainment and clubs.

If you can't do GF, then it's the Y&BC for us. We'll be there later this year for our 25th anniversary. We also have dinner reservations at V&As can't wait.

For romance, I would go with the Poly. It's lush and beautiful. You really are transported to somewhere far from the frenetic craziness of the parks.

Our new family favorite is the Beach Club. We love the casual atmosphere, the proximity to Epcot and DHS, and, of course, Storm Along Bay!

what is your favorite park? Where do you spend the most time? what do you consider romantic - dark or light?

I've always wanted to stay in the Poly. I think it would be romantic. Out of the hotels, I've stayed in I would say:
Rent a DVC suite. You have a balcony, 1 bed with a couch, microwave, and refrigerator, coffee maker. Depending on your likes, I liked the Wilderness Lodge Villas and the Beach Club Villas. (Love the Beach Club pool:thumbsup2) Didn't spend a lot of time outdoors seeing everything Wilderness Lodge had to offer because it was Christmas and very cold.

If it were me...I would rent points at a DVC studio villa and try to get savannah view at AKL. I like the villas for just two and the kitchenette is nice if you want to have some lazy mornings or early nights in the room. I love the idea of having a balcony too so you can just sit and chill...maybe with a cup of coffee.

Another big contender would be a studio at BLT...lake view. I personally like the darkness of AKL but the walking distance to MK would be lovely and Lake View very relaxing and romantic.

Any DVC studio would work but those would be my top 2 choices.

Renting points would keep the cost down and maybe you could splurge on some really nice dinners or other experiences.

DH and I spent our honeymoon at BLT. (We are an older couple)

We stayed at Boardwalk and loved the proximity to the more "adult" parks plus the nightlife on the Boardwalk itself. While there will be kids everywhere, on the Boardwalk is less so. Plus, if you are a drinker you can indulge and not have to worry about getting back by driving or navigating the transportation. Alternatively, if you like DD staying at SSR or POR which are in walking distance would be nice as well.

We spent our 10th anniversary at the Poly and got a free upgrade to CL! :thumbsup2 It was amazing!!! :goodvibes Even without the free upgrade I still think the Poly is super romantic for an anniversary stay. My second choice would probably be the YC because of all the nightlife for adults over there, and being so close to Epcot.

DH and I spent our kid-free 10th at Boardwalk Inn and loved it so much we returned for our 11th!

We were there in early October so the location was perfect as we planned to spend a lot of time in Epcot for the F&WF. There's just something about BWI - when you're off the Boardwalk and within the actual resort - that is very serene to me. It doesn't seem to have the hustle and bustle in the lobby as much as some other resorts. We also loved the quite pool down near the garden suites. It's in a very pretty setting and the times we were went there were hardly an other guests there.

THIS! We loved the BW when it was just DH and us. So much right around you and within walking distance.
