Which Resort for August?

If we are able to go in August (hopefully) which resort would you choose? We are a married couple in our late 20’s and early 30’s. We stayed at CSR last year and we LOVED it. I stayed in CBR years ago and wasn’t greatly impressed. Trying to decide on staying at CSR again since we loved it so much, but want to try something new. We like to spend half our day in the resort and the later half in the parks. Another option is Animal Kingdom Jambo House. I had thought about AOA, but I’m not sure we would be happy with it. Open to suggestions. Thank you again!

If you loved CSR but want to try something different, why not stay in the Destino Tower? If you are looking for something completely different, I'd suggest Boardwalk. We stayed there for the first time this past August and really enjoyed it.

Thank you. We thought of that. But it’s still the same resort, just the tower? But I’m sure the experience is much different. I’ll look into boardwalk. Opinions on Jambo House?

Agree that CSR is a really great resort. I actually find CBR about equal now...though overall CSR is more serene. CBR has been completely updated (except for the pirate rooms) plus it has the gondola/skyliner to Epcot and Hollywood Studios. We had a wonderful waterview room last year. The restaurant, Sebastian's is also really good. AKL is gorgeous. I've not stayed there, but visited many times and could easily spend time just hanging out there. Plus, all the restaurants there are excellent too.

If it's in the budget, you might consider the Epcot resort area. We're an early 30s married couple, too, and we love that area for the restaurants, entertainment, atmosphere, and easy access (walking or boat) to both Epcot and HS. We stayed at YC in July 2019 with a deeply discounted summer rate. BC and BW are excellent options, too.

If you like the theming, POR is another great choice. We loved it when we stayed there, but that's because we really like the theming. I've heard good things about POFQ, too.

Haven't stayed at AKL, but it's definitely on my list of places to try in the future!

If you are considering AKL you would probably like the Epton area deluxes too. Just too convenient for Food and Wine if you are going then.

Thank you all again. Was doing some browsing. Really love the look of Port New Orleans-Riverside the Royal Rooms. Only a $100 price difference for the Animal Kingdom Jambo House. My husband seems to like the theme better of Riverside, but I'm sure most people would go with Animal Kingdom? Opinions?

I would definitely choose AKL over a moderate. No comparison. With a deluxe you get interior corridors, a balcony, and AKL has great dining, both quick service & table service. The Jambo pool has a large, shaded hot tub, and all guests are allowed to use the feature pool of Jambo and the feature pool of Kidani, so you get some nice variety as far as swimming is concerned. AKL is beautiful with a grand lobby, and its vibe is peaceful. We stayed in a standard room, yet still had 24/7 animals right by our balcony because we were on the Kudu Trail. It was wonderful.

Since it's Jambo house, I've heard some complaints about the buses?

AKL Jambo is awesome. We ended up spending a lot of time at the resort due to park closures at the start of the pandemic, and it was just amazing. Great pool, views of animals are stunning, just a great vibe all around.

We’ve stayed at CB and POR FQ before. Really liked them both. But AKL Jambo is seriously in a totally different league.

We stayed there three years ago (three years exactly, I just realized, we were there over Easter- sniff sniff, that's reminding me of better times...) The bus service was just fine. No unreasonable delays.

I think bus service is prone to ups and downs across WDW. If you bus from any resort to the parks midday, you'll likely have a longer wait as fewer buses run at that time. And I think it's luck of the draw going back to your resort from the parks, which resort gets picked up sooner.

The biggest bus issue I can remember having in regards to a resort (we've stayed at every deluxe) was trying to get back to the Contemporary from Disney Springs. It had a much longer line than the other resorts. When I figured out that this was due to non-resort people using it as a shortcut to MK, we switched to the Poly's bus line & then took the monorail over.

So bus issues can happen anywhere. One bonus of AKL is that it doesn't share buses with any other resort.

POR is our fav moderate resort. Love the mansion section. If you go with Royal room we loved Oak Manor location. We had a garden view and requested inner courtyard location.
Great food court, pools, walking distance to Pofq. Beautiful landscaping. You’ll be missing something if you don’t spend at least one evening at the resort. Catch Bob Jackson’s evening show.

We have CBR booked for Aug. although I love POR, I’m interested to see how the Skyliner will be. Not having to bus to 2 parks is appealing. It was the first resort we stayed at years ago, and we liked it. I’ll still go visit POR one night to eat, see Bob Jackson’s show and soak up the night atmosphere.

Thank you. We enjoy the resort as much as the parks.
