I am so new to this planning, we are planning our first trip for 2006. I am trying to figure out which hotel would be best for a family of 5, girls will be 11, 8, and 3 when we go. I do not want to spend a lot on the hotel, but want to get the best deal of course. When I look at the moderate hotels, they say for 4 only, but yet my friend stayed at the Port Orleans Riverside and had 5 people. Is there certain hotels that say they will only allow 4 but yet you could have 5 in the hotel. I would love it if someone could give me the little secrets of the hotels.

Thanks!

POR is the only mod that will let you have 5 over 3 ppl in the room. It has 2 full beds and a trundle that pulls out from under one of the beds.
Your kids are still young so everyone should fit fine.
There are also several deluxe resorts that sleep 5 YC/BC has rooms with 2 queens and rooms with 2 queens and a daybed, Poly, CR. I have heard some rooms at BWV also sleep 5 with a daybed but its a childsize bed--which would probably be fine for your 3 yr old.
There is always the cabins at Ft Wilderness that sleep 6 and have 2 separate rooms and a kitchen.

You will be in the Bayou area, not mansion area. They are both beautiful areas that are part of our favorite resort. You will also be able to use the facilities at the sister resort POFQ. Kids seem to love the slide area there. You will love POR. Here are some pictures of both the Riverside and French Quarters area.

You can see the trundle bed in one of the pictures if I remember correctly.

We have 5 in our family also. Port Orlean Riverside, Alligator Bayou section has rooms with trundle beds that will accomidate 5. We love it here, it is a wonderfully themed resort. Were going back there in March.

We are also a family of 5.We will be at POR Feb.3-8.My girls are 9,9,6.Can't wait!!!! :jumping4:

Have you considered 2 rooms at a value resort? We did it last year with connecting rooms. We paid 55.00 a night for each room with AAA discount, had 2 full bathrooms, and 4 beds. It was perfect. It was only 110.00 total, cheaper than most other resorts and we had plenty of space.

We stayed at POR for a few nights last month and liked it a lot. There were 4 of us, but three of those were adults along with my 5yo (my mom and my sister were the other adults). I thought that the rooms were an ok size and would especially be good for a 1 family unit like you would have. That would be the best price-wise and it's a nice place with beautiful grounds.
