Last minute trip planning....taking our youngest DS for a trip by himself, along with my mom. My mom has only stayed at POR and AKL...we've done AKL, VWL, WL, VGF...room options are Standard Beach Club, Studio Boardwalk Standard view, Poly Studio SV or AKL Savannah View...we ruled out WL due to construction...should I be considering others?

CR!! I love walking to and from the MK. I assume with a 3 year old this would be a MK heavy trip. Makes it so easy for mid-day breaks if you're into that.

Unfortunately, things at CR are just way overpriced for our time frame. Hoping something may open up there though!

If CR is definitely out of range (and is there nothing even through renting DVC points?), then I'd say Boardwalk or Beach Club. At the Boardwalk you're still walking distance to Epcot and HS so that can make up for not being able to walk to MK. And you have the Boardwalk area which was REALLY fun for our 3.5 yo DD back in May. Beach Club would be fun for the pool, if you and he are into that (and weather permits), and it's a slightly shorter walk to Epcot (but longer to HS). AKL is great as well, though you have to get on a bus to go anywhere. But there's also so much to see and do at the resort itself. Being able to walk/stroller to at least one park has been great for us on the last 2 trips. When we were at Boardwalk, we'd typically do MK in the AM as early as possible, and then usually Epcot (or another park) for the afternoon/dinner. We went to MK for dinner/evening a couple times and I think we ended up having to take a cab because we were always pressed for time (not so much in the AM).

I'd say All Star Movies. Those giant characters! The bright colors.

Since you've already done AKL, of the 4, my top choice for a young boy would be Poly. I've stayed there 3 times with my DS who is now 7 (we just returned from the resort yesterday!) and the theming is so much fun! The new child's splash area is adorable. You are also right on the monorail which makes MK and EP really convenient.

My second choice would be BC. We love that resort as well and they have a huge, sand-bottom pool for young children. Walking to EP and boating to DHS is super easy.

I think I am leaning towards Poly as this is only a 4 night trip...probably going to park hop between MK mornings too which makes it nice!

We took DS5 to BC when he was 3 and he loved it. Easy walk to EP and DHS. Beach was a huge plus as he could just play with the sand. How much are you planning on staying at the resort?

Of all of those, for a 3 year old in the winter on a short trip, I would go for the Poly. BC is terrific for the pool, but in December you may not have swimming weather. We have been there in December several times- sometimes we are in shorts, and sometimes we are in coats and gloves- we have also been in both on the same trip! To me, it is a gamble to pay the BC price for the great pool, and possibly it be too cold for the pool. For a 4 day trip with a 3 year old, I am guessing you will be spending a lot of time at MK- the Poly is extremely convenient because you can walk to the TTC and grab the express monorail. You can also walk to the TTC and take the express monorail to EPCOT- not quite as convenient as walking in from the Beach Club- but still VERY convenient. At age 3, DD also loved taking the boat from the Poly to MK and back.

Yes..I am thinking that too as one trip with our older two DS in Dec 2010, it was super cold and we were unable to swim.
