We are going in Nov for the first time (taking my 4 year old son), money isn't a factor so please help me pick between these resorts (all are within our budget)

Contemporary (wing)

Port Orleans Riverside

Key West (buying DVC points) studio

Boardwalk Villas (Buying DVC points) studio

Wilderness Lodge (courtyard view)

Thanks for all your help!!!

If cooking in your room isn't an issue, and space for more than 5 people isn't an issue, I'd say go for the CR! The ease of transport to the parks via monorail cannot be beat, especially with a little one. Also the proximity to the MK is ideal.

Have a wonderful trip!

Welcome to the Boards! you will find them the most helpful place on earth for Disney information.

I'm going to give you the Contemporary as your choice simply because you don't have any of the other deluxes on the list (??). With a 4yo, you'll be wanting to go to MK alot (and in small doses) and what better place than the Contemp to stay as it is within walking distance. I'd advise taking the monorail as much as you can--your 4yo should be able to sit up front with the driver at least once for a Kodak memory. And you can make PSs at some of the other resorts on the monorail loop to check them out for a next trip. Ohanas is a wonderful feast at the Poly; and the character meals at the Grand Floridian feature Mary Poppins and many of the "live" characters in a Victorian setting. The Contemporary has one of the most kid-friendly buffets in Chef Mickey's located on the main floor. Plus you adults will thoroughly enjoy the California Grill, located on the top floor.
Being so close to the MK gives you great opps to head back to the resort for swim and nap breaks.

Hi,

Assuming that you are going to spend most of your time at the MK and that you are only going to have three in your traveling party and that you are not thinking about cooking meals in your room then I would say go with the CR hands down.

We've stayed there in the garden wing rooms three times now. So comfy & convenient. This trip we're branching out and staying WL CV and Poly GV. If we're half as happy as we've been at the Contemp. we'll be ecstatic! GF is another option, but sort of pricey. Anything on the monorail in my opinion.

Location, themeing and price are the three main aspects of a resort. Since price is not a problem, make sure to look at all the resources you can find to get a feel for themeing you might like. There are plenty of sites with photos Our Laughing Place is a good one.

As far as location, it's hard to beat an MK resort. Considering it's your first trip, and especially with a little one, you really should stay somewhere near the Magic Kingdom.

Between the CR and WL, it's a trade-off. The location on the monorail is great at the CR, but the themeing at WL is considered outstanding. We love the WL, and feel the short boat ride to MK a plus--not a disadvantage. Which resort you choose, though, is very personal--none are better than the other.

Lastly, welcome to the Disboards--I envy you your first trip.

i agree on the contemporary too!

for the location. it is a monorail resort, so the monorail drops you right off in front of epcot and the magic kingdom. especially for a first timer to wdw, this is a great picK!

definitley make priority seating (reservations - in case you didn't know) at chef mickey's. kids love this. it is a character meal where the characters come right up to your table to greet you. you can take pictures with them. this will cut down on wanting to stand in the long lines at the parks to take pictures with them.

also, from almost any window at this resort, you can get a great view of the fireworks from inside the hotel. so, if you are wanting to be back early to put your child to bed, you can still see them from the resort - you may have to go to one of the floors with a wide view ( like the 4th, or the floor with california grill)

as one of the other people commented, when you are getting on the monorail at the resort, you can ask the driver if you can sit up front with your child, and if they don't have anyone up there already, they will almost always let you up there. your child will love that!!

GOOD LUCK and have lots of fun!!!

My vote would be WL or CR. I have heard some of the wing rooms are showing signs of wear. But... it is great to be on the monorail and so close to the MK with a 4 year old. WL is not a bad choice either. I love it there and you are only a boat ride away from MK. Let us know which one you decide to go with and be sure to tell us all about your trip when you return. And, welcome to the boards. Someone always seems to know the answer to any question you post.

You're welcome! Here's another great photo site. Mostly pictures of the every park attraction, but it has some photos of the resorts.

Suite Disney.com (this is all one word. For whatever reason, if I post the url, the site makes it all *********).

Enjoy!

I would say BCV if you can still rent points. CR would be my second choice. We like staying in the Epcot area for the ease of getting to MGM and Epcot--you'll be able to walk to Epcot in a few minutes and take a boat or longer walk to MGM. Our 4 year old was more than happy staying at an Epcot resort. I think when he is older we will stay in the MK area, but at that age he's just glad to be at WDW. He liked taking the bus, and you can walk through Epcot to catch a monorail to MK.

WL for a 4 yo, definately. Lots of neat stuff for you to do there and very kid friendly. :)

Second pick would be CR just for ease of having the monorail to get to the MK. :)

Have fun!
