Which resort do you like better OKW or SSR?

I wonder if a group of friends/family would like the 2 bedroom at OKW more than the 2 bedroom at SSR.

For me the advantages for SSR is the counter service area with the nice seating area.

But I like the decor of OKW and what seems to be a larger living room/kitchen area, at least visually. It seems easier to get around as well.
I dislike that there is no counter service there.

What do you think is the better of the two resorts?

Which is easier to get at the 7 month window.

If you could buy into either resort now, which one would you choose and why?

Thanks

OKW hands down. It's like a small community with all the luxuries of home. If you want to explore, swim, shop, golf, take the boat to SSR. I have done it many times. Have to admit, dining is better at SSR

The living room alone is worth it at OKW. I felt cramped in the living room of a 1bd at SSR. I don't care how big a bedroom is necessarily, because we spend most of our time as a family in the living room. There is a lot of room to spread out at OKW. I also like the laid back, Jimmy Buffett vibe at OKW a bit more than the upscale feel at SSR.

That being said, I'd be happy to stay at either.

OKW is our Home Resort so although we tend to lean towards picking it I would definitely prefer OKW 2 bedroom to SSR 2 bedroom; we stayed last month in dedicated 2 bedroom at SSR & while we did like it alot OKW's 2br for our family still wins hands down with its sofa, love seat, dining table, balcony ( & many OKW villas are now newly renovated or will be in near future ).

:goodvibes

I prefer OKW vs. SSR, don't know just something about the outside hallways at SSR make me feel like I'm at a Days Inn. As mentioned OKW has larger rooms and don't forget the 2BR a OKW has two beds in the 'studio' part of the unit vs. 1 bed and sofa sleeper (IIRC) at SSR.

OKW without a doubt. I love that resort. I could live in a 2BR! SSR is my home resort and I avoid it. I just LOVE OKW it is so homey and beautiful. I like many of the other resorts too. OKW is my favorite out of the two you have chosen. Good luck!

OKW hands down. We stayed there in July and absolutely fell in love. There is a counter service right by the pool area and we loved the picnic tables outside it. The theming at OKW is so much better and the rooms are much roomier. We also had better experience at OKW with the buses but I know thats probably just luck.

I think I would prefer OKW to SSR for a family get together. I think the seating areas and balconies are larger at OKW. As for lack of counter service - DTD is just a boat ride away - I went to Earl of Sandwich one day and brought back lunch to the pool. I took the boat down and the bus back.

We have stayed at both and absolutely loved them each the same but for different reasons. They are both big resorts and I have had alot of luck booking at the last minute with each of them.

The advantages at SSR is that some of the buildings are within walking distance to Downtown Disney and the boat ride is much shorter than the ride from OKW. The spa and fitness center at SSR are also the best in WDW in my opinion and the last time I stayed at OKW they didn't let non-SSR guests use it. The rooms at SSR seemed to be newly furnished but smaller then OKW. Some at SSR also have a real nice view of Downtown Disney. I enjoyed the pool and theming slightly more at OKW myself. My family and I also loved Olivia's Cafe at OKW. The DVC points for OKW are for the most part much lower then SSR as well.

The one thing to be careful about in each resort is to make sure you request a building that is not too far away from where you want to be. Both of these resorts are huge! I know some people who didn't enjoy themselves as much because they were too far from everything.

You really can't go wrong with either one, it just depends on what you are looking for.

We have done 6 adults at both SSR and OKW in 2 bedrooms. Everyone in the group would pick OKW. The extra space, the huge balconies (we played cards out at the table on the balcony almost every night), the privacy due to layout and mature landscaping outweigh the downsides.

Another vote for OKW. You cant beat the size and ambiance of the resort. Enjoy your stay.

We too love both. Each resort is unique and has features we like. Having said that, for the sheer comfort of the room OKW is our pick. The size of the room can't be beat, there is a full size dining table, a buffet area for more storage, a bigger refrigerator and a full size washer/dryer pair. We stay for at least 7 days so these features are appreciated. Plus now that they have added the sleeper chair to the rehabed rooms, it is even better for us!

We own at both resorts, and like both, but OKW is by far our favorite.

For a family trip, in addition to the added space and large balconies, you also have full-sized washer and dryer, and the two queen beds in the second bedroom is a big plus.

SSR is more convenient to DTD, but OKW buses generally get better reviews than the SSR buses and nobody will be riding the OKW buses at park closing times to get to their car parked free at DTD.

I will be different. I like SSR. Prefer the dining choices, especially the CS option, the newer rooms, just my opinion but until they update that bathroom it still looks dated, and like the pool better. Also like the closeness to DTD. I would think SSR is easier to book due tom the size. Also, THV for SSR with that 11 month booking window.

For me it depends on how many people your group has. Bigger group needs bigger space, so OKW is what I would choose. SSR will probably be easier to get, at least that has been my experience time and again (word has really gotten out about how awesome OKW is!). But you can waitlist OKW and I've been very lucky with that. We like the pools at SSR better, and we like the meal options at SSR better, too. I like the room decor better at SSR, too. But if you think your group will be hanging out at the room a lot I would pick OKW for space.

I have never stayed at SSR, but I just wanted to share that we decided to join DVC because of our stay at OKW! :thumbsup2

Love OKW. That is why we own there.
The size of the rooms, the balcony, the lush grounds,
the tropical feeling and the CM's are very friendly.

Either would be fine, but OKW is our favorite by far! If they like the dining options at SSR (we love Turf Club there), it's an easy ferry ride from OKW to SSR. It's worth it to have the extra space of the OKW 2 bedroom villas. We also like the "vacation home" feel of OKW versus the "apartment" feel of SSR. I do kind of like the little town square idea of SSR, but still prefer OKW in that area as well.

We own at SSR but we really liked OKW better. The rooms are larger and the kids enjoyed the pool area much better at OKW.

I've never stayed at either, but I just have to ask...is anyone besides me shocked at the results of this poll? I have visited SSR and thought the decor of the villas was really pretty. The pool area looked nice, too. Granted, I've only seen pictures of the villas at OKW, but I just would've thought SSR would be considered a little nicer. Maybe I need to check out OKW sometime in person.
