Which resort didnt live up to your expections..

It makes me laugh that peolple going to WDW can actually complain about walking at a resort. I lost count on how many times I read, "It was to far of a walk to the pool", "The elevators are to far" The parking lot/bus stop was to far" and of course "The walk from my room to the food area was so long". For people with medical issues I understand, but the majority do not have these issues. We stayed at POR Riverside and was in the back of the resort, it took a "whole(sarcastic)" 8 minutes to walk to the food court. My family enjoyed the walk, after all day at the parks it was a way to unwind before we got to our room. When it rained, I turned into a little 47 year old kid and grab my daughters hand and hit every puddle we see:banana: We go by a simple model "you get out of your vacation what you put into it". I hope this does not offend anyone.

Bravo!

Clap clap clap clap!

Didn't offend me.

POFQ and POR, mainly because of the shared transportation. It was a nightmare trying to leave the parks with the kids and strollers.

My worst was actually camping at Disney... and it had nothing to do with the campground which we loved!!! but with the weather and the fact that with 4 young boys, someone decided not to close the star gazing flap on the top of our tent. Sooooo... at the summer 3-4pm daily torrential rain common in Florida, we came back to the stuff in our tent, clothes, camcorder that was charging, and everything else that we kept in there floating. We went to a value resort for the night, washed and dryed our clothing and bedding and went back to the campground the following afternoon after it had dried out a bit. But it is one of our most laughable memories.

Our 1st onsite stay was a CSR--while it was OK it didn't measure
up to all of the hipe that I had read to figure out what resort to
stay in. Since this was Our 1st onsite stay we didn't have anything
to compare it to until we stayed at POR. My DH asked I had decided to
move up to a Deluxe resort because he said it was so much better than
CSR. Nobody walking around with Suits and Briefcases and packing out the
halls on the way to the Food court.
We felt more of a Disney feel to POR. We even visited POFQ and
we also loved it. We will be staying at POFQ on our upcoming trip.

sooooooooo
has any resort survived this thread unscathed?
;)
Incredibly, it looks like the All Stars have emerged relatively unscathed! I wonder why that is? Maybe because people have lower expectations of the All-Star values, and higher expectations of the moderate/deluxe resorts. Higher expectations = bigger disappointments...

Personally, it's one of my favorite places to stay because its very casual, moderately quiet, and I find it relaxing. I even enjoy the cheerleaders! I've been staying at the All Stars exclusively since 1993 -- our trip to AKL next month is the FIRST time I've been unfaithful to the All-Stars.

But a bad day at Disney beats being anywhere else. :cool1:
:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: That is SO true!

Don't like CSR at all and was a little disappointed with the room size at WL and AKL - just seemed like the rooms were small.

I have only stayed at the BC and POFQ!!! I loved my experience both places. We stayed at BC twice since once we tasted the proximity to EPCOT...can't convince ourselves to stay in another area. We have never stayed at a value because my hubby is more of a 5 star kind of guy..and I know he would not be happy at a value!!!
I haven't noticed dirt/dust/bugs. I think I just don't look. One visit at the BC we had an awesome view and balcony. next time we didn't. It was ALL good.

The only unpleasant CM I ever dealt with was at the IG of Epcot..never in a hotel. I killed him with persistance...and all was fine.

We are trying the BW in December, and I almost switched to BC after reading reviews on the BW, but decided to risk it. I will make sure I arrive with my rose colored glasses firmly placed on the bridge of my nose, When You Wish Upon A Star blaring in my head and will repeat to myself..I"M ON VACATION!!!

That said, in no way do I mean to trivialize anyones' opinions, or make light of anyone's truly bad experiences. I have been lucky!!

Let start by saying that it is hard for me not to like a disney resort altogether but sometimes there are certain things I really don't like. The POP was the biggest disappointment for me. But it wasn't bc of the resort itself. the rooms were fine and I loved the grounds and the food court and lobby area. However I was very much disheartened by the noise and craziness going on by the guest and the lack of security doing anything about it. Teenagers and kids were running all over the place. And I don't mind having kids around and them even getting roudy once in a while but it seemed to be nonstop. We were only staying there one night before we went on to our full week at POLY (post rennovations) which we loved. We got back from the park to relax, had dinner and when we got back to our room our room smelled of marijuana. We realized that it was coming from the bathroom vent. Someone must have been smoking it in a room around ours. Well I did go to college and many concerts and have been around that smell plenty of times and can't stand it but in college I would just air out the room and say nothing. We did open the door to air out the room but bc the smell was so strong it was making both me and my fiance dizzy. I was very upset that someone would be inconsiderate enough to be doing that in a hotel with so many little kids around so called the front desk to let them know my concern. They said they would send someone up from security but they never did. In the morning we walked out of our room to see that several rooms around us had new vents sitting outside of the rooms that they were going to put in. We figured we probably were not the only ones to complain. I appreciated that they at least were doing that, but I feel that they need better security at POP. Especially when they have big student groups coming in like when we were there. Maybe it is not always that roudy, but even so they need to have some control at their resort. And I say this as a person with a very high tolerance for excessive noise. I would very rarely ever complain in a situation like that but it was over the top. But in the end my complaint wasn't even about the noise, it was just about the fact that someone was smoking up in a very family oriented hotel. But we never even got an "I am sorry for the incovenience" or an offer to move our room.

Coronado Springs.... just didn't do it for me! Pop, Poly and YC are my faves. Trying BWV for the first time tomorrow..... for some reason BW is always booked when I call, but not tomorrow! Hopefully it will be a fave too.

WL resort is fine - we hated the WL pool -
The pool is too small, a bit dirty, ducks swim in it (germs), amd always crowded in the AM, mid-day and PM.

I've seen ducks swimming in the Boardwalk pool and SAB. They probably swim in all the resort pools. With all the chemicals that are in the pool water I don't think you have any thing to worry about. There would have been many people affected by now.

ASMovies- stayed 1 nite after a wonder cruise- HORRIBLE!!! Never again! I am just a deluxe snob I guess; I tried it and I swore we wouldn't go back.

Good point.... And they test the water all day long.

CR- It wasn't horrible, just not on par with the other deluxe resorts. We were sent to a room that was being cleaned. The room seemed small, I know the CR is supposed to have some of the largest rooms on property, but the room seemed cramped. BTW, I've stayed at the YC, in a much smaller room, but it didn't seem cramped at all. The sinks are pretty, but not functional. One day I was walking by the TV and this border thing surrounding it came crashing down on my head.

BWV- The bathroom was dirty. The laundry room was ridiculously hot (I would rather be outside in 100 degree heat), I've been in plenty of laundry rooms, and it was by far the hottest (it did have a working TV in its defense). The walls were really thin. We were on the second floor with a BW view and it was so loud. Every night I would be awakened by drunk patrons leaving the clubs. I was sleeping on a pullout in a studio, so noise might not be an issue for the larger accommodations.

grand floridian - not so much that i wouldn't give them a try again but it was definitely not want i anticipated. the room wasn't that clean and the service shotty. i went at a very busy time (xmas) so i will try them again at a less busier time.

The Poly. We visited folks we knew who were staying there, and I was impressed with how it looked... But there were people everywhere, including the areas I think should be "guest only," and it was just so very loud. For the price, it would be a bummer.

CBR is my absolute fave. Lots of space, not a lot of noise, almost no looky-loo foot traffic. Just tranquility. :D

Our stay at the WL. Most of the reviews on here, said they love, love the Wl but not us. It was the first time we stayed at a deluxe resort. The resort is beautiful . What I didn't like was the food. The food court and WCC .,.Yuck..
Artist Point was good but not great for the price. The food was very disappointing. We also paid for a woods view and got a partial view(had to stand to see anything) of the service area. You could hear the trucks late at night and early in the am. unloading.
