Which resort... CBR or POR????

I am having such a hard time deciding. I am going to WDW in late January of 2003. I can not decide which resort to go with. When I went in June of 2001 I stayed at POR and LOVED it... very romantic. I have heard wonderful things about CBR but I don't know if it would be romantic enough for me....

I am taking my boyfriend for his birthday/ college graduation gift and (wishfully) hoping that a little question popping might be going on during the trip! He's been hinting.. asking around!! Anway, I can not make up my mind. I am holding out for the best rates because I don't feel comfretable asking my cast member ex-boyfriend to hook me up with a discount anymore.....

ahhh decisions.... So any advice on which resort, at that time of year, for romance would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Just to clarify that ex boyfriend is now married with his own family... he is more of an old friend. The boyfriend part was years ago!!!

Wow, it sounds like your trip will be exciting, wherever you stay!

I personally love the tropical theming at CBR. I think POR looks beautiful, as well, but CBR just appeals to me more and makes me feel like I'm away on an island somewhere

I think your best bet would be to keep reading these boards, check out as many web sites as you can with pictures of both resorts, then decide! I don't think you can go wrong with either resort.

I have many pictures of CBR on my web sites, the links are below. Just a few words about CBR: ALL rooms were refurbished within the past year and look brand new, and CBR rooms are the largest of all the moderate resorts.

CBR is my all-time favorite moderate resort.

We spent our honeymoon there and LOVED it. It's really romantic.......nothing beats laying in a hammock on a clean, white sand beach with your sweetie & watching the fireworks from Epcot. Talk about romantic!!

Both resorts are beautiful, but go for CBR...you won't be sorry. Just remember to take a look at a map of the resort, so you can choose your location (we stayed in Aruba and thought the location was wonderful.....right across the bridge from Old Port Royale).

I too would vote for CRB. We stayed at both DXL and CRB and I found that the CRB provided more of a feeling of being in a different world. While DXL was lovely, I felt as though I were still in the North Woods of Wisconsin...of course with a few palm trees thrown in and flowers blooming in November and warm temps...but you get my idea. CRB made me feel as though I were on an exotic island [but one with all the special WDW magic].

We stayed both and it is really hard to decide between the 2 of them. We spent our honeymoon at CBR and absolutely loved it. The following year we wanted something different so we opted for DxL.We stayed in the mansions and it felt really special even with a standard room! I would definitely chose the mansions over the other side of POR. I honestly believe you make your own romance so you will be happy wherever you choose. One bit of my personal opinion - a king bed is definitely more romantic than 2 doubles.

I would have to vote for POR. We spent our honeymoon there in Oct and I can't imagine anything more romantic than a stroll around the resort at night. (The perfect time for a certain question )

A different opinion from the majority- so far (the beauty of the DIS!!). The CBR is the only resort on property I have ever stayed in, and been disappointed and unhappy at (We have stayed in FW Homes, CBR, PO-FQ, Disney Institute Villa's, Treehouse Villas, and OKW).
For our last trip, I was a bit skeptical and worried about liking POR, since we had usually stayed at "Home Away From Home" accomodations with the whole family (We were spoiled - but as it was only DH and I, we looked at moderates. We were delighted with POR. It was romantic, relatively quiet, beautifully themed, convenient, smaller than many other resorts etc. I would go back in a heartbeat!
All Disney Resorts are magical, and any decision really should reflect which theming "Strikes a Cord" for you! Good Luck with your decision, and make a deal with yourself that whatever decision you finally make, you will not "Second Guess" yourself.

I have stayed at both resorts... and honestly you cannot go wrong with either of them. I think they are both beautiful, well managed, and yes... romantic. Of the two - I personally favor the CBR because the tropical themeing feels more like a "get away" for me and I liked seeing the EPCOT fireworks from various places on the resort property. Just a few little extra things that tip the scale in favor of CBR in my opinion.
