Which requests for beach club standard view?

Does anyone know if we would have a chance at a king bed with a standard view?

We always put "king bed" as our only request, and have usually gotten it. King beds are in short supply, so if you add on a bunch of other requests too, it makes the king bed more unlikely. You need to prioritize if you're making more than one request. The way we figure it, we'll be sleeping much longer than we'd be looking at the view or sitting on the balcony, so we need to focus on that king bed as our priority. We ask about other priorities at checkin, once we've confirmed the king bed. :-)

Rooms overlooking gravel is the Standard View. If it is not acceptable to you you need to think about a different category or a different resort.
DH and I gladly pay Disney BCV prices in October and way lower Gulf Coast Condo prices in February. IMHO they are TOTALLY different.

Even with King bed as a primary request it will take Luck to get it. There are relatively few. BC is a family Disney Resort. Room bed configuration are geared to families needing multiple beds.
I understand what you’re saying but I shouldn’t have to accept gravel as my view when we are already struggling to pay to stay there. We will still choose to stay there because we are interested in the pool and proximity to Epcot but no one should have to settle for that.

You don’t have to settle for that. You can choose to stay elsewhere or not go at all.
I don’t understand your point of view at all.

We just booked an awesome deal at beach club for October and I can’t wait!! I’m just not sure what to put on my online requests. We usually do highest floor but seems like we can’t do that since we didn’t pick club level. Any ideas?
We requested a full balcony and got it. We had a gravel roof, but we could also see the Stormalong Bay and the HS fireworks. We were very happy with the balcony and the view. Didn’t spend much time on the balcony, but we liked it because there was a table and chairs where we could drape wet swimsuits.

We were FAR from the lobby. Next time I would probably just request “close to lobby,” but I don’t think that was even an option to click online.

If you get a rooftop balcony, be warned: don’t leave your balcony door open unless you like animal visitors. One cool, beautiful morning I opened the balcony door and sat on the couch waiting for my daughter to come out of the bathroom. When I looked up, there was a squirrel standing at the foot of the bed staring me. I yelled and started running around the room trying to chase him out. Didn’t help that I had recently watched the squirrel scene from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I got him out with no harm to him or myself. My daughter ran out of the bathroom and had a good laugh.

Those squirrels like Disney roofs.

Yeah. I guess we all make decisions about what we will settle for. We chose to settle for a standard view at BC because the deal we got was not available for any other view. We were perfectly happy not to be paying what people paid for the really good views.

Lol I would be horrified.

I told dh just now to pick between king bed, full balcony, and highest floor and he said king bed. I think I will call and have that be our only request. You did make the idea of a gravel view more appealing so thank you for that! We don’t mind being far from the lobby because we like to walk.

We got our room through a ta and standard view was the only one available. Our only other option for deluxe was poly and it was considerably more.

We did, too. It was quite a good rate for Beach Club. Poly standard was also available for our trip but quite a bit more. If it’s the same ta, then they only offer rates on standard rooms at any of the resorts. That’s fine with me. While a good view is nice, I’d generally rather pay less and get the same resort amenities. I almost always choose standard- even when I have the option of better views. For me, the rate increase rarely justifies the view- and there is more chance of getting a complimentary upgrade- there’s nowhere to go but up!

Beach Club is great- especially when you can get a good deal. If you don’t like your view, just go out and enjoy that beautiful pool, beach, and Boardwalk. You probably paid less than a lot of people enjoying those same amenities.

Have a wonderful trip!

We may not be using the same one because I was initially quoted for beach club-standard, poly-standard, and poly-lake view.

We are the same and always choose standard. The only time we didn’t was when we paid for a king bed at French quarter. I’m very excited for the pool and we love walking along the boardwalk so I’m sure it will all work out.

Thanks you too!

That is, I think, why we've often managed to get King bed in various resorts. There may not be many of them, but I suspect they hold them back for either requests or preferentially give them to couples or singles when they check in rather than try to shoehorn a family in. I've got fingers crossed for Christmas that we get a King bed which we requested. I'm not completely optimistic as we usually go in early December when the resorts are less busy.

We are a couple so I’m going to put king bed on our request and see if we get one. We might or might not get it and that’s okay. We would rather have the king bed than any other request so that’s the only one we will be putting.

When you pay for standard view a gravel roof top is one of your options. So yes you will have to settle for it or pay for a higher view category.

We did BC SV on an awesome TA deal. We got a view of the roof. Oh well. I knew it was a possibility. I didn't even put room requests in. I wasn't staying at the BC for a view. I was staying for the proximity to Epcot and the pool.

If I had to put in a request for BC I would put close to elevators or lobby because those hallways are never ending!

There is at least one king bed in a standard view room. We had it last year. It was a corner room on the third floor with two small balconies. The room was really nice but the view wasn't great. It was a quiet room, though.

We also had a free upgrade to a king bed with a lagoon view. It was another corner room with two small balconies. I've been told that the Beach Club only has twelve rooms with king beds.

If we get a rooftop view we will just deal with it. It was very hard for me to get this deal on the beach club through our ta so I won’t be switching resorts. We have always either gotten our requests granted or Disney has been willing to move us. When we stayed at akl we just had one night in a room we didn’t like and then they were more than willing to move us for the remainder of our stay. We just make sure we are very nice to the front desk staff when we ask.
We like the standard view rooms that face the main pool and Crescent Lake. You can see the Boardwalk across the lake. Our last standard view room had a great view of the Star Wars fireworks. :)

Thank you for the reply. I’ll probably just wait until we get there to see what we get. Our ta called and added king bed to our request.

Thank you for all of the replies. I think we will probably do the higher floor and full balcony requests. I’m not hoping for an upgrade since it’ll be in October. I think I would rather have a parking lot view than the top of the roof but idk.
Yes, parking lot would be better. Our balcony actually sat on a rooftop. A huge, white/gray, gravelly rooftop. I have no idea why they would put balconies on these rooms. It was horrible and unusable. Honestly, the worst room view we have ever had and I haven’t been back to BC.

In all fairness, how much (or even if) someone is struggling to pay for a hotel room has no effect at all on how the hotel was designed, or what room/view/amenities the visitor is assigned.

They cannot and will not shoehorn a family into a king bed room. Maximum capacity is two persons aged three and up, and one child under three (expected to be, but nobody monitors :)) sleeping in a Pack & Play.

That is probably a good idea. I usually just request full balcony when I have a standard room booked at the BC. I have been very lucky and gotten a garden view or a lagoon view and have never had a roof top view, although I know that it can happen. If you don't specify "close to lobby" or anything, then they can put you anywhere and you might get lucky and get more of a garden view. I have been on the "end" of the resort before and it wasn't bad as the door leading out to Epcot was a couple of floors right below our room. We were so close to Epcot that we could hear the music from the UK pavilion and also see some of Illuminations. It was further to get to the lobby but it wasn't bad at all. Have a great trip!

I’m going to be honest, most standard view rooms at the BC are looking at rooftops and are not great. .

When we stayed at BC last May we booked standard view & our only request was full balcony. Our room's view was lovely...overlooking the back entrance/courtyard. Was that really standard view & we just lucked out or did we get a bit of pixie dust & were upgraded without realizing it?

I’m going to guess you received some pixie dust. I’m sure that was a great view!
