Which premium dog loop to request for a 45ft class A

Are all the premium dog loop sites created equal? We are about 45 ft long and have 4 slides, plus our awning. Are some sites wider than others? We will have our tow dolly and my Odyssey. We don't really care about being close to a comfort station and we probably won't be using the dog park much. We have a ton of questions! We have been to WDW 20+ times but never in our rv. I hope this is the begining of a new tradition. We are so excited to be camping at Christmas time! I am digging through all my Christmas decorations now... so we will fit in with all you regulars!:santa:

We always get a premium pet loop. When are you going? I hate to tell you what my favorite site is if you're going at the same time as us.

We will be arriving on December 15th and are leaving on the 22nd. I just want to try to get a larger site, if that is even a possibility. I have been to the Fort many times for various reasons (never camped there), but I never paid much attention to site size. Can you actually see the canals from any of the premium sites or are they obscured by brush and trees?

I have seen many in the 700 loop also 900, 800. Just tell them to note on your reservation and they put you in a site for your rig..

Very good advice.

Some things to keep in mind when making a reservation at Fort Wilderness. The folks who answer the phone (i.e. reservations cast members) have differing levels of expertise regarding Fort Wilderness. Think about it, there are tens of thousands of Disney hotel rooms fitting into a few categories such as Value, Moderate and Deluxe and most rooms, no mater what property have similar size rooms, room capacities and rules regarding the room. So, the reservations cast members have most of the information regarding rooms in their head. Except for the exceptional reservations cast members, for Fort Wilderness they usually read what is on the screen in front of them. You may need to guide them with your reservation as you may actually know more about the campground then they do. At the very least, make sure they note the following things in the comments for your reservation:

Type of camping unit (i.e. trailer, tent, motorhome/coach etc.)

Length of your entire rig including tow vehicles and toads

Number/location of all awnings

Number/location of all slides

Let them know if you are bringing pets

Another thing I do is call back a few days after my original call and ask that they read me back the notes. If they have what I told them everything is good to go.

Now the other secret. After you drive through the check in lanes you start down a 2 lane road. There is a pull over/TOAD unhooking area just down this road. Unhook, and use your TAOD to go check out the site. If it's not good, drive around you loop or those of the same category (in your case Premium Pet) and pick a few sites you like. Drive the the closest comfort station and pick up the house phone and call the front desk. Tell them you site number and advise them you won't fit. Ask if they can reassign you to XXXX site (from your list). They can usually set you up over the phone and you are good to go. Again, it has to be the same category site. You can't reserve a tent site and ask to be reassigned to a premium:rolleyes:

Now, if the place is packed/wall to wall campers it won't work as well, but it may help you out.

Thank you so much!!! I did call back to confirm about the pet loop, but I will call back and give them all the details. How cleared are the Premium loops. Are they near a lot of trees?

We like the 900 loop. 912 being the easiest to back into...especially with 45', but we were 2 sites down (unfortunately can't remember the site number) probably 913,914, or 915 on the outside of the loop. Lots of room and no one behind us. We're requesting the same area when we go the first part of December. Check out the site map in Google Earth. I think there's a sticky for it.

The sites on the outside of the curve are probably the easiest to back into (the ones right at the curve). There is one site in the 600 loop which is almost a straight in shot. I always have to look at the sites in Google Earth to remember the site numbers. If your bus is fairly new and has that close turning radius, you probably won't have too much trouble. You'll have a great time at the Fort.

Thanks for all the info! I talked to dh and he said he is good with backing in wherever we are assigned. Our rv is a 2008, and my dh swears it turns easier than his Denali!

I don't know which loops are the pet loops anymore, but we also have a 45' RV with 4 slides (ours is on a class 8 truck chassis and it has a godawful big turning radius). We were assigned a premium site in the 400 loop that we barely fit into length-wise and had to call and request a different one, so there are definitely sites you will have a problem with. If it's mathematically possible to get into a site, my husband can do it, but we saw a number of sites that would never work for us. On our last trip to a premium site we were in 418 (which at the time was a pet loop), and I can tell you with certainty you'll fit into that one. FYI,we could not have gotten into anything in Little Bear (the inner loop of 1400). When I make my reservation I always emphasize the size of the rig and ask to be put into a site that will be easy in/easy out for a big rig, and I make no other requests. Obviously (since we've been put into sites that didn't work) that doesn't always happen, but more often than not we get a great site.
