Which Poly longhouse for garden view?

We are looking forward to our trip next week to the Poly. We have two garden view rooms booked (I missed the AP rate on lagoon view) for dh and I and the four kids. We want to be close to the transportation.

Any thoughts about our best longhouse for a good view?

I'm interested in this too! I'm planning an Anniversary Trip for Aug/Sept. And want to be close to the GCH. But I also want a good view. I'm thinking I might request a ground floor room on the pool side of Samoa for a shourt walk to the pool or a room in the Nuie Longhouse. :confused3

I hear that both of those are convenient to the GCH. I have my 4 young children with me so I want to minimize travel to the TTC (we'll be doing a lot of walking already!)

Have you found the Tikiman website? It has some great, specific info on each longhouse. I think the site is ***********.com. If that doesn't work, try to google tikiman.

Good luck!

We got what we consider to be a great garden location on our last stay: Rarotonga, 3rd floor w/balcony, facing the quiet pool

Rarotonga is "adjacent" to the Grand Ceremonial House which allowed for easy access to the Monorail, Captain Cooks, O'hanas, Kona, and the arcade. It also allowed for easy access to the main pool, boat dock, and bus stops. It's defiantely not the closest to TTC but the walk was by no means long and you sometimes forget how close the TTC is to this resort!

We loved the location for a variety of reasons, but especially the proximity to everything. At night we could see the tips of the fireworks over the palm trees and Hawaii building and it was a short walk out onto the beach if we wanted to watch from there. The quiet pool was steps away and never crowded. The overall location was quiet in general.

The only downside we saw to this location was the distance to the TTC, outside of that, it was ideal for our needs and rarely did we need to use to TTC due to great transportation. This building was also close to resort parking.

My family has stayed in the Tokelau longhouse on our last two visits. Request a room facing the quiet pool. If you are on the third floor you can even see the fireworks from the MK - it is not a perfect view, but you can still see them. Tokelau is great because it is very central. It is an easy walk to the Epcot monorail and it is nice and close to the great ceremonial house.

Here are my favorite garden views:

1. Fiji - You could luck out and get a garden view that is actually a view of the marina and seven seas lagoon. You are about a 30 second walk from entering the GCH and the door in which you access the GCH you walk right past the arcade and Captain Cook's. You are further away from the TTC and that's about a 5 minute walk away.

2. Samoa - Nice quiet pool view on one side and a view of the Nanea volcano pool on the other. Yet another 30 second walk to the GCH except you enter right into the main lobby, go right up the stairs to get the monorail to the MK. This building is adjacent to the concierge longhouse (Hawaii) and very close to the beach.

3. Tokelau - Gorgeous garden and quiet pool views and about the same distance from the TTC and the GCH. If you want to be away from the activity, this is a good longhouse to request.

I stayed in Tokelau, with a view of the quiet pool, and it was great! Very close to the food court, the main building, and the walkway to the TTC. I wouldn't hesitate to request the Tokelau longhouse.

Tahiti is right next to the TTC and is quiet and has a very private beach behind it. It is separated from the main beach area so people who are resort hopping don't usually walk over there. The rooms are larger and have two sinks.

We loved Roratonga. Very convenient to the Ceremonial House (and transportation), quiet pool, laundry, and even the volcano pool. We were on the first floor, looking out at a nice garden, with the monorail zipping by in the distance. Loved it!

Wow, two of your three picks are my two requests. I "requested" 3rd floor Fiji facing the marina or 3rd floor Tokelau. Yay!

We requested Tokelau for our upcoming trip in July.

I am wondering if I should include either "Tokelau or Samoa" in my request.

We loved our stay in Tokelau...second floor, about 4 rooms down from the entrance door, lookiing towards Hawaii. We had a nice view of the lagoon, and the boats coming and going. It was a nice easy walk to TTC, the food areas, the main pool, and the beach at the other end of the longhouse. Loved it there.

That's the great thing about the Polynesian, there aren't really any bad buildings :goodvibes

You can pick any longhouse in the resort and you will find tons of people who love it. I say you just let them know if you have a certain floor request and see what they give you! :thumbsup2

I tired that twice and it was awful! We had a terrible first floor room with nothing but bushes for a patio - twice! Last time (Dec 2007) our requests did not make it into our reservation (just one of those things) and can you believe we were assigned that horrible room again! LOL

We wound up with a fabulous room in Tokelau - which is my favorite Longhouse :)

LOL While some rooms may not have the best view, I've known people to ask for rooms with bushes for privacy. I'd rather have an open view myself, but everyone's different! :)

Our absolute favorite SV/GV room at WDW is in the Samoa building, ground floor, facing the Volcano Pool. Great view, atmosphere, close to the GCH, etc.

We have stayed in these rooms on several trips. In fact, we have the same requested for our upcoming trip in July!

So true!! But for us, the bushes were beyond privacy as there was no way to even use the patio. Believe it or not there are a few rooms at the Poly with no view....or one that is pretty awful, if a view matters.

For those who do not care, then those rooms work great, but many stay at this lovely resort to enjoy a nice view - which can be palm bushes/flowers/water, even the parkiging lot view is fine :)

But the one over the laundry looking directly at large, old, air conditioning unit on a bown wall would not do much for many guests. :)

We have been staying here since 1981 and have only asked for a room change twice. :) It is a lovely place and the ambiance wonderful.

We love the Fiji longhouse.
It is close to the GCH and has great garden views. Here are some pictures that I took from our garden view room (3rd floor) in 2006.

We requested a balcony at Tokelaou and were granted the second floor. We were facing the opposite side of the quiet pool and it was lovely. All of the lush greenery was beautiful. I loved being in the center of everything.

If we ever get back (DH has sights on spending money on a much needed new car. His has 170,000 and is 10 years old. Imagine that, lol!!), I would request this again because for us the extra room size was a plus. I do like the location of the Somoa and all that it has to offer as well.

Oh well, a dream is a dream your heart makes...
