If we stay at the Contemporary with the free dining promotion do we choose which dining plan we want or do we get the deluxe one automatically with a deluxe resort? If you do automatically get the deluxe plan with a deluxe resort, can you downgrade to the regular dining plan and be credited the difference?

Some promotions are different, so you have to check to see what is covered on the promotion.

don't believe they have ever given the deluxe dining free to U.S. customers (maybe on UK plan) You do not choose the dining plan you get for free, other than by choosing the resort (but no deluxe given.)

So far, with the general public offers this year you will get the basic "plus dining" when you stay at the moderate or deluxe level resorts. This is the regular dining plan. Staying at the value resorts, you would get the QSDP.

You can pay to upgrade to the deluxe plan, but no one has reported any credit given to downgrade.

Let me see if I have this correct. In the above scenario, you're asking if Disney would essentially pay for you to eat during your trip? I don't think so.

You don't get the Deluxe plan free with a deluxe stay. You get teh regular dining plan free with a deluxe stay. That's why people that stay deluxe find that it's normally more $$ off their vacation to use a 40% off pin if they have one offered to them.

I found the promotion - it is regular dining with the mods and the deluxes, and then you pay to upgrade to deluxe.

You don't get a credit if you want to downgrade.....

Totally agree. I think if the OP saw that full rack rate they are paying at deluxe to get free dining, they would probably be surprised.

Once you get up there to deluxe accommodations, or if you travel alone like I do and pay double occupancy, a room discount is much better than free dining

No, not correct. We have NEVER looked into the dining plan as out girls are young, however, as they are getting older, I thought we should look into it as I know nothing about it.

I was asking if the deluxe plan came with the deluxe resort and if it did, if I could downgrade to a lesser plan with less food-perhaps 2 different prices I could choose. But, um, thanks for the comment.

Oh, I KNOW! I called about it and from the AAA rate we are paying for room only to the "free dining" without AAA, it would be $900 more! Perhaps it works better in a value resort or if you have 4 adults in a room who would be able to use the plan to its fullest, but you are totally correct in the discount being better! THANKS!
