So, now that it seems that Verizon isn't going to get the iPhone (and with my iPod Touch not wanting to play any music today) I need to consider another phone. A Verizon Wireless phone. I like being able to access the net on my phone. And my email too. So what do you all think I should get?

Kim

Was there an announcement confirming no iPhone for Verizon? All I've seen is that Verizon and Microsoft announced some new phones.

I'm still trying to hit up the bosses to get me a Droid, but if you are a social networking nut, check the Motorola Devour. It's an Android phone (runs the older version like the HTC phones) but the interface is more geared towards Facebook, Twitter, etc. - and it still has the slide-out keyboard like the Droid.

I have a Motorola Droid with Verizon service that I really like. It helps if you are a bit geeky (OK, I am very geeky). If you have drunk deep of the Google kool-aid this is really the best choice from Verizon. Lots of free/apps are available. My favorites are a Diet Diary (amazing how much weight you can lose if you just pay attention to what you eat) and a e-book reader. I have downloaded the WDW Lines application that tracks/predicts attraction wait times that I am looking forward to using on our next trip to the World this June.

Your less geeky choice is a Blackberry model.

I am not able to use AT&T as a carrier either. I have Verizon (and I am quite happy with them I might add). I originally got at Blackberry Storm but about a month ago I upgraded it to the Motorola Droid and I AM LOVING IT! It is a great phone. I am really loving the voice to txt feature that just came with the 2.1 update :goodvibes

Is there no Iphone for Verizon for sure? I know the chatter has died down with the Ipad and all. (I still giggle every time I say Ipad) immature I know!

I am up for a phone in May and I will hold out if I know that it's a possibility. I have an I touch with the Verizon Mi Fi but still it's so different.

Now I cannot work the blackberry I just get frustrated.... Is the droid as complicated than that? I currently have a samsung saga.... It has a mind of it's own. Oh I just want an Iphone so bad. blast AT&T:mad:

Carl & I would both recommend a Blackberry - just sayin':rolleyes1

Seriously - I have dropped mine more than 20 times without damage, AND the one that spent 2 weeks in a snow bank still worked after a couple of days in a bowl of rice. I have a curve - I forget which one, but it's purple! with a touchpad instead of the old track ball. :goodvibes

Kim, I'd go with the Droid. I have the BB Storm, and it's good too, but the Droid is so cool!

I was just at Verizon an hour ago checking out the Droid. That's what I'm going to get next month. I liked the feel of it in my hand and it seemed very easy to use.

I also know what 2 choices of phone I'll be giving DS14. No way is that boy getting anything 3G. But they did have 2 phones with the nifty slideout keyboard that weren't 3G so those will be his choices. I can't wait to hear his complaining at the store because I'm not getting him 3G. I've already told him that but I know he's going to try to get it in the store thinking I'll back down. Good times await. :rotfl:

Latest rumors were it's not looking good for an iPhone on Verizon this year. However, today I saw a post stating there is some data developers have for their apps and one shows 3% of the devices on Verizon network (or something like that). So it looks like there may be beta units out there. I hope something concrete is announced before the new iPhone this summer. I'd much rather get one on Verizon simply b/c I can get it through work. That'd save me like $900/yr on my phone bill.

If you are into touch-screens, the BlackBerry Storm 2 (a Verizon Wireless exclusive) might be just what you're looking for...

I have a Droid Eris and it's really good. The eris doesn't have a slide out keyboard, but, I don't text that much so it doesn't matter to me. It is really good if you are on facebook alot , I can take a pic and it goes straight to facebook. The facebook app is on my home screen and one touch and I can see all the updates. The one big negative is battery life. The battery drains so quickly, it doesn't even last the day.

Dh just got the storm 2 and i got the Palm pre...it has free hot spot on it so i don't have to pay to teather to my laptop to keep up with school while at disney...still getting use to both but no complaints so far... i have done emails and texts and surfed the net....
my dd got my enV touch so i am going to download mobile magic onto hers so that we have that while in disney;)

i am hoping to do some live reports with them also...we will see!!

I got my DH a DROID for Christmas and he LOVES it! :O) We have Verizon and so far we've never been disconnected (phone or internet). I heard people frequently get disconnected with AT&T and iPod... not sure if it is the carrier or the phone itself.

I'm a loyal Verizon Wireless customer and I was really hoping for a Verizon iphone :sad2:

Anyway , I have a Blackberry Tour and I love it :goodvibes
The new Blackberry Curve looks sweet too.

I have the Droid and love it and I am not a techie by any stretch. Very easy to use and more features than you'll ever figure out. But I wish I could get ETicket. :rolleyes1 (no pressure!)

I don't have it on Verizon, but I'm very happy with my Blackberry Curve 8530. It's a very solid phone and can do a lot... Not as much as the iPhone, but a lot for such a small device.

Does anyone else have the same problem with the battery? I want to get the Droid but I need a phone that has a battery that lasts more than 1 day.

Not having one myself yet, but having colleagues who do, there is an app that lets you easily turn on/off bluetooth and wifi and extending the battery life. Not sure by how much though. But such is the life of these high-end devices...

I have had my Droid since it came out and I do love it. :lovestruc

I think it can be easier to learn/use than a blackberry, but it really just depends on what you are used to. I had a Blackberry Storm prior - had some issues with it but I would still recommend it.

I think it depends if you want a physical keyboard or not.

Physical Keyboard - Droid
Virtual Keyboard - Blackberry Storm

I downloaded a free 'task killer' on my Droid and it makes sure any unneccesary things running in the background are "killed" to preserve battery life.

The battery life on the Droid is very good - depending on usage of course.
