Which pen to autograph a hat?

We're taking hats for the characters to autograph and I was wondering which would work better...a Sharpie, or a ballpoint pen. (I know that have to be big enough for the characters to hold...)

We used a sharpie for my dd's hats, the hats were beige and we used a black sharpie. I found one that was fine point on one end and a thicker point on the other. The princesses seemed to prefer the fine point while mickey and donald or those with "gloved hands" prefered the thicker point. I recently saw a package with several colors. I think any permanant marker will be fine.

The regular ball point pen would not write on the fabric and I wanted permanent marker anyway. Be careful with the characters though as they do not want the ink on their clothing. I usually handed the pen over for signing and retreived it for my girls.

BTW - they still love the hats and wear them often while the autograph books sit on the shelves.

We use Sharpie markers.

Other idea's for autographs...

In EPCOT my DD bought a large t-shirt and DS bought a
small bongo drum.

At each country, they had the 'host' sign the t-shirt and
bongo drum with their name in the native language.
The hosts alos wrote hello or a small msg (on the t-shirt)
in the language.
It was my kids favorite sovenier from WDW.

I always use the Rub-a-Dub laundry marking pen. It is made specifically for fabrics! I probably found it at Target.

Just a tip from my days of collecting autographed baseballs and baseball cards as a young girl - black sharpie's eventually get a yellowish tint to them. Over time, the blue sharpie is your best option. All that said, they're kids and want to enjoy the autographs now - so it may not matter how it holds up over time. Have a blast!

Thanks thats good to know - I think we will switch to blue!
