Which Parks for Rope Drop

During our last trip I may have pushed my family a bit too hard. I think DH would like Disney more if I scheduled more down time. Which parks are best for RD and which are not necessary? My kids will be 6 and 4 for the next trip and no one is really that into thrill rides if that means anything.

Thanks!

it can be an enjoyable experience at MK (if you're not headed to 7DMT or Peter Pan).

it really depends on what your ride priorities are and what FPs you get. With kids that age, it might not be as important at Epcot or AK. Depends what they want to do at HS.

After years and years of visits, we virtually never miss a rope drop.
Lowest crowds of the day.

It 'works" BECAUSE most guests would rather sleep late while on vacation.
So, overcoming a bit of grogginess can have a positive pay-off.

Thanks! I am wondering if we may be better off most mornings and then taking naps in the afternoon or just calling it a night early.

MK is the one we try to hit the most.

ETA: We like to do RD first half of the trip, then sleep in the 2nd half. It works for us.

It’s best to do mornings, afternoon naps, and evenings. That way you avoid the most crowded part of the day and if you use your FPs in the morning, you can pretty easily get an evening FP.

Agree with MK being the priority to maximize morning lulls in the crowds....and I think it's SO fun to rush into the park and main street so that's a big draw for us! My kids love, love, love it. HS is probably the only other one where it makes or breaks your ride experiences so you maximize FPs since waits there get so ridiculously long.

I would say MK and HS too. MK has so many rides that rope drop lets you accomplish almost everything. HS especially if you want to sign the kids up Jedi Training.

We rope dropped at Animal Kingdom a few weeks ago and since everyone was rushing to Pandora we felt like we had the park to ourself for a little while. We dont even have little kids anymore but my husband and I rope drop alot. We really like the feeling of much lower crowds in the early morning and you would be amazed at how much you can accomplish before it starts getting hot and crowded!

Thanks everyone! I will definitely take the approach of RD most days, afternoon breaks and maybe going back out! Thanks!

None are necessary. But as others have said, you can get in several rides in that first hour that will have long waits mid-day if you don't have fastpass.

I think best bang for your buck would be MK to either hit up a few Fantasyland rides or head to the back of the park where waits are virtually non-existent for the first hour while everyone else heads to 7D. Also beneficial at parks with tiers if you want to ride a 2nd tier 1 at rope drop. But otherwise, if you're not doing the thrill rides, you can probably switch it up. I personally never miss a rope drop but I've had very successful days in the park when I've not made it for one reason or another.
