We will be at Universal and IOA in January for our first visit. I have heard sundays are great. I'm not 100% sure but we are thinking about checking into one of the resort hotels that sunday morning very early. Should we check in and go to US on sunday and IOA on Monday or vice versa?

If we don't check into the hotel, would that decision make a difference?

Thanks,
Debbie

I would do Sunday at IoA and Monday at the Studios, but there's nothing wrong with either way.

Yes, yes, yes, checking in first will make a huge difference. You will get your room key, which doubles as your Express pass, allowing you to get on rides with generally much shorter waits. If you do it early enough, you will also be able to enter WWoHP at IoA one hour earlier than regular park guests.

Thank you for both responses. I was originally thinking of checking into the hotel at 7 a.m ish then doing the early entry at IOA. We do have a room booked but as of now it is really only for the express passes. If it looks like Janaury will not be that bad we might not even stay on site. We already have a condo for the week and i'm not sure that is worth it that time of year.

Thanks again,
Debbie
